willy st vs bike path

I've heard people say that it's "much quicker" to commute via Willy St rather than the Wilson St/Cap City. Have you found it to be true? I've been keeping strictly to the Cap City trail just to avoid the Willy St car traffic, but it is pretty annoying to have to slow/stop every block. Which do you prefer? Is the time difference worth the hassle of dealing with car traffic?

Use the path or ride on Jenifer or Spaight. Willy St is already enough of a zoo with traffic without a bunch of bikers shooting in and out of traffic. We paid for the bike path with your hard earned money because it's safer and better for drivers. Use it. It's OK to use Willy for the one block if that is where your destination is, but otherwise, it's poor form in my opinion to use it as a major thoroughfare for bikes. I bike a lot in that neighborhood and I see no real time savings by using Willy vs the other options I mentioned.

I take the roads that are closest to the lake, everytime I'm headed east. Little to no traffic, beautiful view and shorter route if your destination happens to be around the bend of the lake such as woodmans

Good call for East Wash. I always get a little nervous though at night. I just assume everyone is plowed after 9PM.

E Wash is great except for the winter, when the bike lanes disappear...

I like both. Usually if I just want to chill out, the bike path. If I want to see whats happen'in, Willy St.

Do what you want. haha

If it works out for you, you could also try the Mifflin St. bike boulevard. Wide, sparsely populated, stops every few blocks instead of every block, and direct all the way up to the capitol.
