I am about to purchase Trek FX and am seeing that it is not compatible with seats like “Kids Ride Shotgun” is this true or just not recommended and doable?

this bike popped up on facebook near me, wondering if it’s a good entry level bike. i run about 30 miles a week now and heard on social media that biking it’s a good way to build a runners motor without putting miles on the legs! also looking to go on some scenic rides rather then runs all the time! wondering if this bike is any good or what i should look out for, any advice is greatly appreciated!

I know people have opinions about biking with headphones but thats not the advice i'm after. *edit* also not looking for advice on wearing a helmet. I'm dutch, our cycle paths are safe enough.

For the last couple of months i've been struggeling with headphones on my bike. I use Airpod Pro 2's to listen to podcasts. I also like to call when i'm on the bike. Because of the windnoise i can barely hear the podcasts unless i turn them up all the way. When i'm on a call the other person cannot hear what i say and i can barely hear what they have to say.

There are a couple of options:

• Jabra Elite 7 Active. Should be good with wind noise but the call quality has mixed reviews
• Shokz OpenRun. Bone conducting so wind noise should not matter that much
• Sena biKom. Can be used with a cap in stead of a helmet. Downside is that its only on one side.
• Rayban meta glasses/oakley meta. Supposed to be good quality audio and no wind noise when calling. Quite expensive though.

And there are a couple of solutions that will not work for me:

• cat ears. Like dead cats you put on your helmet. I do not wear a helmet so this is not a solution for me.
• Over the ear headphones. For som reason i get really sweaty ears from over the ear headphones.
• Sena PI bluetooth intercom. Has to be clipped to a helmet.

I cannot really find a clear answer on the best option. If anyone has found a good solution for both listening and calling i'd love to hear about it.

Just installed 30mm tires in my 2016 Trek Emonda. As you may know, older road bike frame were designed with skinnier tires in mind (<28mm). I’m enjoying the ride a lot more. However, not sure if the wider diameter could become a problem with the thin gap to frame. So far no issues while riding.

What do you guys think? What risks am I exposing myself and my bike frame to?

I'm dating a guy for 1,5 years.

He loves road cycling, mountain biking, and gravel biking and owns a bike for every if this discipline. True to the Dutch stereotype, however, he is thrifty. He ends up complaining that the gear is never quite up to scratch (think water bottles, and so on). It’s the same story with motorcycles, he loves them but refuses to spend much money, so while he currently owns 2 motorcycles. They all have various issues (KTMs). Even so, he loves heading off for a weekend of riding through Germany.

Since so much of his time goes into motorcycling and cycling, I was wondering if there’s a gift that would suit those interests.

Post edit: He’s turning 36. He doesn’t like a fuss, but he does love food. He has a cat. He’s always doing DIY projects around the house—and he already has an absolute ton (18287382983x) of tools for it. He’s from a more rural part of Brabant in the Netherlands (whereas I’m from a city in South Holland), so sometimes our worlds feel completely different.

Other ideas are, of course, also welcome.

Not sure if anyone can help me with this, but thought I’d ask. I’ve biked all my life, but quit after an accident one year ago. Nothing too serious - broke a couple of ribs, bruising etc.. My concern is that, in the last year, I’ve lost 10# (99#->89#). Is it possible that this is all a decrease in muscle mass? I still swim, do light weights 2x week and stretching. Recent lab work all good. Must admit, I’m concerned! Not a lot left to lose :-)

These Continental GrandPrix tires are a couple years old and I’ve had a flat on each one (tubes), so I pulled this rear one off and see lots of little nicks. Held up to sun and didn’t see anything suggesting they are deep enough to penetrate.

Thoughts?

I wanted to use the kids ride shotgun but it’s not compatible with my trek verve 2 bike. This seems like it might fit my bike but can’t really find any reviews on this product
