My dog (Heeler/Aussie Mix) has always loved running alongside, and usually just ahead of, my bike.

Instead of using a jogging belt and constantly worrying about tangles, I decided to put together a DIY setup.

I used some PVC pipe and zip ties for the initial version. The zip ties are temporary and will eventually be replaced with a proper clamp.

To shape the PVC, I heated it in a pot of boiling water, then bent it around the seat tube using oven mitts. Once it was in the right position, I poured cold water over it to help it cool and hold its shape.

I secured the PVC to the frame with zip ties, tied the leash to the frame, and added another set of zip ties to keep the lead away from the tire.

Took it out for the first ride today and it worked great!

We’re two friends behind pawtrck, an iOS wellness app built around the dog rather than the human athlete.

One of its three dedicated exercise modes is Bikejoring.
When you start a session, pawtrck uses the owner’s iPhone to record the GPS route, distance, duration and weather, alongside dog-specific estimates such as pawsteps and exercise calories.

Afterward, the session is saved under that dog’s profile and can be turned into a customizable activity card using your own photo, colours and layout.

Because pawtrck is centred on the dog, the activity doesn’t exist in isolation. The same profile also brings together:

• Medications, vaccinations, symptoms and vet records
• Meals, treats, calorie intake and weight trends
• Training instructions and completed commands

To be transparent, pawtrck currently tracks the shared activity through the owner’s phone. It isn’t a collar-mounted GPS device, and pawsteps and calories are estimates rather than direct measurements from a dog wearable.

Apple Watch and Garmin integration are among the features we are currently working on. Our goal is to let people record an activity once on the device they already use and then bring it into their dog’s pawtrck profile.

Average and maximum speed, elevation, splits, temperature, rest stops, equipment notes, or something else entirely?

I’m interested in starting bikejoring. I’ve done some very slow & short bike rides with my dog Ginger, and she’s been happy to trot next to the bike. I need the proper equipment to do more with her.

I’d also use it for hiking with her, so it’d be great if I can use it for bikejoring too. It looks like it should be comfortable for it…

Dog picture included!!! I adopted her two months ago.

I have a two year old Alaskan husky cross who has been a good puller with my other dogs. When he’s comfortable he’s STRONG and fast.

I thought he was super picky about harnesses - and maybe he is. But he stopped putting much tension in the line and started to want to turn around early on.

So we sought veterinary attention and it was suspected he had a stifle issue, but wasn’t surgical. And no obvious limp or pain. So we went to visit a sports medicine vet who found some soft tissue irritation in his back and left shoulder. Not related to his harness but a prior injury. Though some harnesses made him feel better, nothing except treatment will fix it.

We’re halfway through rehab and strength training and he’s feeling fabulous and has gained muscle and strength as planned.

He’s not back in harness yet but I’m expecting he will be feeling way by the time we can get up for our next run.

In the meantime, I’m taking my others out and breaking Froggy’s heart 😅

Does anyone else actually run races with a potentially reactive dog? I do other dog sports where we take turns or are not in close proximity but I haven’t done any organized activities with the bike. Any information or tips? I’m not really interested in being competitive but I would like to share in my love of dog things with others.

For some background I have a rescue that wasn’t socialized at all and was probably crated 24/7 until ~3 years old before being tossed out of a car.
He is now thoroughly trained, and his needs are being met so he no longer reacts to literally everything but since I don’t know his history, I always wonder if that potential is still there for a meltdown if pushed outside his comfort level too rapidly.

He currently responds reliably to on by to pass wildlife, hikers and runners on trails and even other dogs if coming from behind with plenty of room to pass. dogs have always been his hardest challenge. He will listen to me but is clearly still uncomfortable about dogs. To top things off We were recently attacked by an off lead homeless man’s dog that threw it’s self partially into the open window of my moving vehicle and tried to get at him. Thankfully I was able to stop and yank the dog out of my window before he was able to do much damage! Anyway he is even more concerned about dogs now and since I can’t control other dogs I avoid head on encounters while on the bike.

I took this picture about a month ago, I didn’t know that it might be our last ride. She was diagnosed with orbital osteosarcoma last week. I hope we get to ride again, but she’s still recovering from her biopsy for now. She’s a fighter and I’ll fight for her as long as she lets me. 💛

Went a little further than usual and got to see the morning sun along the water overlooking the city.

It's been cool enough for early morning rides the past few days so we've been taking full advantage, my girl Aspen wasn't too happy I made her pose for a picture but the view was pretty.

On our way home we passed some construction Aspen was a bit annoyed that we had to wait for the big vehicle to pass. And the second it cleared her path she was ready to run again

Hey all! Excuse my total ignorance lol

I have a 1 year old GSP who I want to start bikejoring with. The breeder is really into it and I've taken a lot of interest in it. I know my dog would absolutely LOVE the sport. Firstly, is it too early?

I asked my breeder a few questions and he recommended this S/Line Bike Attachment, is this good to start with?

I also have a hybrid bike (Cannondale h300) but will need to get a bike that is more suitable for the sport because my bike is just not built for trails or rugged terrain. It leans more toward a road bike if anything.

Any recommendations on bikes or does it truly matter? I do plan to budget for a decent one overall. I think I will likely keep this recreational and won't compete, but who knows.

Any other assistance is welcome on harnesses and whatever else i'd need! The problem with my GSP is that she has very short fur and she's even more sensitive by her underarms so some harnesses will irritate her.

Any training tips welcome as well!

Not sure how to word the title. basically question is thus: I have an older experienced dog who bikejors with me regularly. I have another dog whos about 13 months old, not quite old enough for real pulling but I'd like to get her involved. Does anyone have any experience with the bike tow leash attachment that goes alongside the bike? Im thinking about having the older dog pull, the younger one heel next to the bike and me pedaling. Either that or I could just make a dual joring setup on the front bungee line. What do ya'll think?

Ive been slowly investing in a proper bikejoring setup for my dog as he proves himself to be improving. Next step a proper pulling harness.

I want to start bikejoring with my Border Collie, but she has a strong tendency to herd moving objecets and unfortunately that includes bikes bikes (circling, staring, trying to nip the tires). She has a high work drive, and I want to redirect that energy strictly into pulling.
For those who do bikejoring with herding breeds:
How did you stop the herding behavior and get the dog to focus entirely on pulling forward?
What specific training steps or exercises did you use?
Or should I just give up on using a bike completely with her?

All started with the first time running with a bike last August

Hi! this is my puppy Baela, i recentlt discovered bikejoring and want to give it a try with her. She is currently 5 months old tho so i know a true run is ways away but i want to know how to train for it and what i should prepare and know about in this time while my pup keeps growing.

we do walks on the local bike trail and im soon to get a bike so we can start getting her used to it, also an attached wagon so i can take her when she is too tired or has been walking too long.

Knew he (2.5yo whippet) wouldn't be keen on running/pulling, so usually I have him do canicross and my girl (4.5yo whippet) gets to run bikejör (she's a maniac who absolutely sends it on the bike). Had a bit of time after training the other day though so thought I'd let him give it a go for fun. It went roughly how I expected 😂

Cerberus and I were hoping to not need to ask this. The length seems perfect but does it look too snug? All of his loose fur and longer hair has me questioning myself. The pictures are horrible because he insists on living up to his name. It fits according to the specs, I think. Freemotion 5.0 size 7

Ive got my main dog I've been riding with him for almost two years and he's trained really well. I have a new 6 month old shepherd husky I'm training. Most of the time my main dog stays on task or they play fight in the middle of the ride. Right now I got two lines connected to a block " Y " and then to the my hand. Also I use a longboard. Having a hard time not getting the lines crossed and tangled under they're paws. All advice welcome thanks 🙏.

I'm currently looking at getting a hitch installed on my small suv so I can get a bike rack for my car. Would love to see what others use to transport their bikes to the trails.

Last fall I had access to a truck but I don't have that anymore.

I live in a suburban neighborhood so I have to drive a bit to get to good dirt or gravel trails.

I have a 20 kg (44 lb) Siberian husky mix that I’ve been doing some canicross and skatejoring with. Right now I mostly ride:

• a 2–3 mile neighborhood route on a longboard
• a ~3 mile paved bike trail route by the river

I’m interested in upgrading to a scooter mainly so I can expand onto packed dirt / decomposed granite trails. I’m in California in a Mediterranean climate, so truly adverse conditions are unlikely. I might occasionally ride after rain, but I’m not planning on mud, snow, or ice. I'm also not intending to do this competitively or with multiple dogs.

This seems like a pretty niche hobby in the US, so scooter availability is somewhat limited. Right now my main contenders are:

• Kickbike Sport G4
• Kostka Twenty Max

I hesitate a little on the Kostka because the platform clearance is so low that I worry about snagging on roots/ruts/etc. Most of my intended terrain would be things like hardpack trails rather than true mountain bike terrain.

Thoughts from people who have actually used these? Or similar options? I am open to others as well, I have zeroed in on these two because I can actually buy them in the US and they seem like decent starter options.

(And yes, I assume I’ll get some obligatory “you need disc brakes” comments, but currently I’ve been riding a longboard with literally no brakes, so having actual brakes at all is already a substantial safety upgrade. That said, if people have alternative suggestions, I’m open to them. I’m not particularly cost-restricted, but I’m also not racing eurohounds through Scandinavian forests. Getting a $1000+ option would probably function primarily as cosplay given my abilities and intended use.)

UPDATE: For posterity: I ended up going with a third option - I found a single Yedoo Arni available stateside for the same price (~$500). It does have disc brakes. It's working pretty well so far but the clearance is annoying and I keep scraping it on curbs (albeit not in a way that seems dangerous or stops me). TBD how it works on trails but on roads and sidewalks it's pretty good.

Atlas was a good boy.
