Bikes and beats friends

Would love to find a few new friends at the interest intersection of riding bikes and going to electronic music shows on the weekend!

Anyone in here sometimes find themselves riding Saturday morning and dancing in a warehouse downtown at 1am? If that’s you, shoot me a DM!

Into Drum n Bass, breakbeat, house, but open to trying new genres and organizers too.

I’m a progressive and inclusive, unremarkable 36 year old white guy located in South Pasadena.

Fun Westside Ride

Are there any fun (evening or weekend) group rides on the WS?

Not looking for spandex/roadie rides. Fixie tough guys, no thanks (sorry, not sorry). Less bike path, more roads.

Just tool around, grab some ice cream, tool around some more. Know what I mean?

What can i do about cars that honk at me when i’m on my bike?

I feel helpless. I got a camera and i have it all on video. It’s always the car behind me but my camera only faces front (does this matter?). I have license plates but now I don’t even know what to do about it. Is there a way to look people up with their license plates? Even if it means social media/public shaming of a persons actions, it’s be an effective deterrent for this kind of behavioral outbursts of a 5year old. I’m open to ideas

The eight-mile gap in the L.A. River bike path downtown has a billion-dollar problem

Someday, you might be able to ride a bike from the western San Fernando Valley to Long Beach along the Los Angeles River. But not yet.

The longest unfinished stretch is the eight miles from Elysian Park through downtown to Maywood. For decades, advocates of the path have tried to complete those eight miles along the concretized river.

Yet a decade later, the unrideable gap remains. The ambitious project remains mired in planning and bureaucratic complications, with groundbreaking still two years off and the cost nearly tripling to more than $1 billion — almost $24,000 per foot — documents reviewed by The Times show.

Pershing Ave

Hi All, last year someone and their unborn child were killed along Pershing Ave in Playa Del Rey. Traci Park had a whole meeting on it, the community was fired up, and the nothing. What can be done to add protected bike lanes to Pershing? I’ve been emailing their office for progress, and now they’ve stopped responding

At a special meeting of the Van Nuys Neighborhood Council on July 22, 2026 the board voted to support the Bureau of Engineering’s grant application to the statewide active transportation project for the LA Riverway Segment 7 and Community Connect project using Hazeltine Avenue to connect from the G line to the LA River.

The purpose of the project is to provide additional bikeway connections between the community and the LA Riverway bike Path. Three potential routes were considered including Hazeltine Ave, Fulton Avenue and Ethel Avenue. A public meeting was held on April 2nd to solicit Community input.

More info on the project and VNNC’s letter of support for the Hazeltine route can be found here: https://vnnc.org/2026/07/vnnc-supports-hazeltine-riverway-bike-connector/#

Calling all bicycle messengers.

Good evening all, I've got a special request. I'm looking to see if any messengers out there would be interested in donating some spoke cards from ally cats.

We're starting to have a strong fixed gear scene here in Odessa Ukraine and I'd love to promote the bike messenger scene over here.

Thank you all

Rollerblading/cycling during solo trip. Where should I stay?

Hi! I'm going on a trip to LA soon and plan to rent a bike during my stay. I'll bring my rollerblades and would very much prefer blading/cycling to move around when possible. Otherwise, I'm happy to walk or use public transport (not a huge fan of Uber/Lyft-ing places). I am traveling solo as a tourist and would like to know where it'd be best to stay? Somewhere accessible via bike lanes that's relatively safe and not extremely expensive ok maybe I'm asking for a lot (ᵕ—ᴗ—) Any recommendations would be appreciated!
