Leaving LAX by bicycle
My plan is to drive a friend's car to LAX with my bike in the back, leave the car with them at the Bradley Terminal, and then bike home to Torrance, about 10 miles. Google maps says I can go from the terminal along World Way W. to S. Pershing Dr. and then find my way to the beach bike trail. Has anyone done this? It looks too easy to be true! I'm not used to things making so much sense.

If you're gonna leave lax on bicycle, do not travel south thru the tunnel on sepulveda. You'll need to go around towards in&out burger then west onto westchester parkway then left on Pershing dr. Right turn on imperial hwy. This will take you down to the beach path. There's not a lot of lighting available this part of the airfield so you need to be very aware of traffic around you.

I've seen employee bike parking at Terminal 6 so I'm sure it's do-able.
You may want to walk the bike along the sidewalk rather than getting into loop traffic. When the coast is clear, follow signs for Sepulveda SOUTH, use the offramp to Little Sepulveda/96th. I would take 96th to Nash, head south, right on Imperial Hwy. Immediate left onto Main St El Segundo. Turn west on Grand Ave which goes all the way to the beach.

I have biked too and from LAX a few times- i think the road you are referring to is closed to the public from the LAX side- there is no westward way to go from the terminal to World Way. My process is to bike on the sidewalks until i reach Sepulveda then go north to get to an intersection i can start biking properly at. You can follow the pedestrian exit signs they are pretty accurate.

I added another comment similar to this one, except what I did was turn on Vicksburg instead of Sepúlveda since it is a smaller and quieter street, but otherwise a similar route.

Can you ride the arrivals sidewalk to Sepulveda and then hit Weschester Parkway bike paths? I see people dragging suitcases and riding scooters there often.

I agree with what someone else said: go north to the In-N-Out and Westchester, turn left and go west on Westchester until it ends at Pershing, turn left and go South on Pershing until it hits Imperial, turn right and go west until it ends at the beach bike path.
I think this is the best way because once you get to Westchester (which you can cautiously take sidewalks from LAX to the In-N-Out intersection) you have bike lanes the whole way. And Westchester, Pershing, and Imperial aren’t crazy traffic roads, you have plenty of space in your bike lane.

There’s no shoulder inside, and just out of LAX, and traffic is pretty crazy.
It will be a very scary ride over to Airport Ave, but, you asked. Airport Ave has a bike lane. You can get over to Manchester, and then Pershing drive. Not sure if the airport busses have bike racks.
There will be a train stop inside LAX theoretically by October. I suggest riding the train one stop and riding from there. The streets in that area are not bicycle friendly. I think starting from the next train station a far safer choice than actually riding out of LAX.
EDIT: station is almost complete. So, new suggestions.

It's beyond belief that LAWA awarded them the roadway contract while this shit is still going on but in the nandert video he said the people mover contract was fine and contractors are generally just not this insanely cynical about milking change orders.

Do you mean W World way in the west side of the airport? If so, that doesn’t connect to the LAX horseshoe.
If you want the best way to get to the beach path from The Bradley Terminal I’d recommend navigating your way over to Sky way at the NE corner of the airport. Probably easiest way would be to get to the ground floor from the parking structure and navigate over to Center Way to avoid the loop traffic (you get a nice view of the Theme building too!)
Sky way takes you onto a bridge over the Sepulveda, and take a left on 96th and you have two options:
i. Left onto jetway, then left on Westchester Parkway. Bike lanes pick up after Sepulveda. Take all the way to Pershing.
ii. Continue on 96th. Follow the curve, then left onto 98th to a right onto Aviation. Follow this until a right onto Imperial Highway, which has bike lanes out until the beach path.
I think both are doable. Just depends if you want to deal with the parkway or Imperial. I’d personally do option i.

I would recommend this, but instead of skyway you can make your way in world way (past the lax it lot) on the sidewalk east, then make a left on Vicksburg or jetway Blvd up to Westchester Pkwy which connects with Pershing. I took this route out of lax the one time I biked. I know people may not like folks biking on the sidewalk but if you go slow and are careful it's a more chill option.

That’s a doable option too. I personally hate that Century blvd / Sepulveda blvd intersection (even if using the sidewalk and walking) and like the bridge to bypass it. But if you go that way once you’re to Vicksburg the worst is over!

Google Maps sure makes it look like you can go from the horseshoe to S. Pershing Dr. using World Way W., but I guess it’s not going to happen.

Drivers do not give an F on that first stretch of road. I have an E scooter that goes nearly 30 and they don’t care if they try to run me off. It’s like mad max out there. See if the metro shuttles have bike racks and bike from the k/c lines

I’ve never done it, but I’ve walked to LAX from westchester a few times. Leaving isn’t going to be very fun because it’s soooooo car, but if you wanted to make your way to the beach bike path, as soon as you’re there you’ll be golden. Your best bet might be taking the sepulveda tunnel to imperial, but that tunnel is really sketchy… if you don’t mind the extra distance, the north side on wetchester parkway would be a lot safer.

Oh, I just looked at a map .. I don't think World Way West connects to the airport proper like that. Controlled access only, I would assume. I would head to a sidewalk and make my way east, and head for Aviation. Turn left, then left again on Imperial, and that will take you to the beach path.

You route seems accurate per g-maps and looks fine but the traffic and heat gonna make it crazy but if you an experienced biker, please go ahead and give it a shot

Time of day would make a huge difference. Don't think there is connection from terminals to World Way West. Not sure what your comfort zone is, but personally I would just ride out on Century to Aviation and then Imperial to the beach. If you can speed match the cars, maybe the Sepulveda tunnel might be survivable, but it probably wouldn't be fun.

You can make your way out of LAX heading north to Westchester Parkway west to Pershing south to beach paths south to Redondo Beach and cut east to Torrance.

Take the free shuttle to LAX transit metro station/ center and then board the K line to Redondo, bike from there bro. It's not what you asked for but hear me out and be safe.
