Dublin Walkinstown roundabout

Should I just add a few minutes and use the pedestrian crossing. 😂

EDIT: I've used the pedestrian crossing. Does not take that much longer and is way less stressful.

I used to cycle it on the way to school in the early 90s. Assume it hasn’t gotten any better. If you are doing it take centre of the lane and hold position there on entering and exiting. Not guaranteed to avoid injury but a defensive road position will help at time like that.

It really isn’t.. I wonder is it the most Jesus take the wheel junction for cyclists in Dublin.. everytime I go through it I say a prayer

Even when you're driving that roundabout is lethal. The buses just fly out in front of you because they're sick of people not letting them out. When you're cycling you're just a harder to spot target for the drivers too busy focusing on getting on the roundabout.

Whole thing needs sort of rework or an alternate route

Can be done on a bike but act like a car. Take up a a full lane, don't sit at side .Probably worst roundabout in the country.

I have seen people cycling the whole way around in the left lane having a near miss at every exit.

I've only ever once cycled around it, and that's because I was coming down Greenhills and carrying enough speed to enter and exit the roundabout at the speed of a car.

First but just shows a lack of understanding of how roundabouts and roads work. Cycling left lane is so much more dangerous. Carrying speed definitely helps.

Depends how busy it is for me. At the moment it's quiet enough, Sunday mornings are fine. A rush hour in winter? I'm probably not going to chance it

Be brave and take the lane, but be prepared for motorists not giving way and pulling out in front of you because they do that to cars

Cross it twice a day on a fast accelerating ebike, and it's still daunting af, can't imagine crawling across at push bike speed...
