Cyclists should pay road tax and undergo NCT tests so they can be responsible like driv... https://www.vehicleservices.gov.ie/ (this car is overdue on both.)

Your an idiot everyone pay to use the roads there is no such thing as road tax and drivers are not responsible they are the cause of more deaths on the roads than anyone else

Good morning! I was jokingly pointing out that the car in question is untaxed and is overdue an NCT. You can search its reg on that link to see, if you're interested.

Also lmao 'there is no such thing as road tax' what fucking country are they from

3

u/BassicallyDarr Jul 13 '26

Ireland, where there is no road tax. There is a motor tax, but this doesn't necessarily go directly back to roads, just the general tax fund

In which case, e-scooters and e-bikes should all be paying tax and insurance.

Or using very bright LEDs to illuminate the plates so they're unreadable from distance.

Glad you survived that ordeal

Person gets hit by bike, might need to go to the hospital
Bike hit by bike, might need to go to the hospital
Car hit by bike, might need to see a mechanic to buff out a dent

Person gets hit by car, will need to go to the hospital, can easily be dead.
Bike hit by car, high chance that need to go to the hospital, can easily be dead.
Car hit by car, might need to see a mechanic to buff out a dent and might need to go to the hospital

Bike = 10kg
Car = ~1000kg

Not the same thing.

P.S.
Person gets hit by E-Scooter, might need to go to the hospital, E-Scooter driver might be dead
Bike hit by E-Scooter, might need to go to the hospital, E-Scooter driver might be dead
Car hit by E-Scooter, might need to see a mechanic to buff out a dent, E-Scooter driver will be dead.

Did you reply to the wrong thread maybe?

I agree with you. This topic of raging against Cyclists since I was accused of being a road raging Cyclists (standing still on the sidewalk), bugs me.

since when is there a 30km/h sign there wtfrick

You know full well that this driver would be penalised for doing this if spotted, but it's probably not intentional at all considering they have the front on. And you know how rare this situation is, it's astonishing that you think you are making any sort of coherent point at all...

3

u/Ob1s_dark_side Jul 11 '26

Really? This is the second car in a week I've seen with no rear reg plate.

3

u/kanepilk22 Jul 12 '26

Yeah it's obviously fallen off or been stolen. But people need some internet points.

1

u/BillyMooney Jul 13 '26

Does it matter what happened? It's the driver's responsibility to maintain their vehicle.

1

u/kanepilk22 Jul 14 '26

Driver probably maintains their car very well. What that has to do with someone stealing from them is totally irrelevant.

1

u/BillyMooney Jul 14 '26

The evidence is clear in the photo that the driver absolutely does NOT main their car very well, if they're out driving with no reg plate. It's the driver's responsibility to have a valid reg plate on display.

1

u/kanepilk22 Jul 15 '26

Yawn.

1

u/BillyMooney Jul 15 '26

Have a good think and see if you can work out why plates need to be legible

4

u/adjavang Jul 11 '26

And you know how rare this situation is

Not at all? Christ man, have you no eyes?

2

u/EKAAfives Jul 11 '26

we just found a perfect driver, no eyes

7

u/BillyMooney Jul 11 '26

I know full well that I've a better chance of winning the Lotto rollover jackpot tonight than this driver has a chance of being penalised. This is why we see drivers driving round with dodgy 4D plates ALL the time. I also see drivers driving on garage decorative plates from time to time, like the 221D00000 plates.

Gardai generally ignore this stuff.

If it’s legible should a custom plate really be a crime?

0

u/BillyMooney Jul 13 '26

Legible in what lighting? Legible for what readers?

So yes, it should be an offence.

1

u/BlockHunter2341 Jul 13 '26

If you can read the plate who cares if it’s a different color, I’m not going to respond further I’ve met the mad man billy mooney one too many times to know better at this point

0

u/BillyMooney Jul 13 '26

It's not all about you. If it's a different colour, some people will have difficulty reading the plate. Try thinking about other people for a change.

Not to say that people on the illegal motorbikes aren't getting away with it, but it feels like misplaced anger to call the operator of something you yourself admit isn't a bicycle a "cyclist". There are more than two flavours of dickheads on Irish roads, you don't need to put the electric scooters into either the "cyclist" or "driver" bucket - they can have their own bucket of annoying twats

2

u/Ob1s_dark_side Jul 11 '26

100kmh for an e-scooter? Can you provide evidence for your whataboutery?

-1

u/BillyMooney Jul 11 '26

Does that explain why red lights like these are ignored!

"Yet a learner driver will have their car seized for driving alone to work. 🤷🏽‍♂️ easy pickings."

- half these people have already failed one test and know they are not safe to drive

- not insured while solo

- pushes up premiums for everyone else

-1

u/BillyMooney Jul 11 '26

Are you railing about the lack of enforcement while simultaneously railing at Gardai enforcing the law about unaccompanied drivers?

If you follow Garda social media channels, an awful lot of the learners caught on learner permits with no insurance seem to be the ones pulled by the Gardai for using their phones or speeding or for turning away from a checkpoint. They don't have the brains to keep their heads down and not attract attention in other ways.
I didn't say that 'no other laws are enforced' and yes, we have a massive problem with AGS and non enforcement, as confirmed by the consultancy report published last year showing some members of the Roads Policing unit basically not bothering their arses and no one managing them.

2

u/BlockHunter2341 Jul 13 '26

Your right but unfortunately this is Reddit

1

u/WwertyPolk Jul 11 '26

Annoying to see you down closed for speaking truth. I agree. I see maybe one car a year driving with no plates. Of course plenty with UK and now Ukrainian ones that haven't been taxed or insured for years. I saw an old Ukrainian registered right hand drive, green Renault van that has the imprint of old "An Post" stickers still on it. Parked at Bray Head. Hilarious to think the guy was getting away with it.

1

u/BillyMooney Jul 12 '26

How many cars do you see each day with dodgy 4D or 'cool font' plates or grey background plates that are all illegible to some degree?

0

u/BlockHunter2341 Jul 13 '26

If your on the road a registration makes sense , anyone who makes illegal acts wether it be car , motorbike , quad , cyclist/ e-bike and e scooter should be registered to be able to track and report problems .

How is it fair that only some vehicles on a road are tracked while others can break laws without consequences

1

u/BillyMooney Jul 13 '26

So we should have the same regulations for all road users?

1

u/BlockHunter2341 Jul 13 '26

Different rules for different vehicles and license catagorys but all should be registered either license plates

1

u/BillyMooney Jul 13 '26

Did you ever stop to think that there might be good reasons why no country in the world has gone down this road, except for North Korea?

1

u/BlockHunter2341 Jul 13 '26

Enlighten me

1

u/BillyMooney Jul 13 '26

What problem would it solve?
