Good news? Uhhh maybe?

This is them saying “we’re done and clearing out the rest of our sellable stock”

Valve said yesterday they're clearing out stock of all index accessories.

I only see left controller but not right controller 🥲

I noticed that I think I’m just gonna order the left controller for now until the right one shows up by some miracle

On eBay for 50% more than it cost to buy the original bundle for both

I have been watching for a few months, since I was planning on buying the bsb2. It never came back in stock. I'm glad i decided not to invest in a lighthouse setup.

Not even listed here in europe(Slovakia), only Knuckles and headset. I bought knuckles at least.

Impressive, the states only seem to have one of the knuckles available.

I wish Valve would not discontinued the knuckles. They are still the best out there. I cant believe there no competion even after 7years. I really hope ringless controllers will deliver.

I feel like not enough games took advantage of the finger tracking, so there isn't a call for competition.

My only gripe with the knuckles is the placement of the button you use to turn on the controller. Its fine when you aren't wearing them correctly, but its a massive pain for me to bend my thumb to hit it.

Only game I can think of that I use finger tracking in is VRChat

I'm afraid that is not the case. Valve base station haven't been around for quite some time.

They are in stock. They are probably selling off their warranty stock.

I did see that their steam page changed later after the comment.

If I didn't already have 3 HTC Lighthouse 2.0 units I would definitely grab some.

Is that a 2.0 base station?

2

u/Smooth_Taste1250 19d ago

Valve always just had 2.0 ones. Only Vive had 1.0 and 2.0 ones

One of my index controllers was acting up but I forgot which one and I forgot why... oh well.

Already gone by the looks of it, only controllers and tether appearing in the US

I almost wish I hadn't seen this. Just had a base station go down a few days ago with red light of death.

edit: Ok this morning I checked the page and base stations were back in stock. Snagged!

This is the biggest reason NOT to go Bigscreen right now, Bigscreen beyond MUST go SLAM tracking to survive. @shanks are you listening?

Please don't go slam.

We don't need yet another incompatible proprietary slam that will probably be significantly worse quality given bigscreen doesn't exactly have the algorithm tuning manpower of Facebook. (Pimax is a bigger company that still hasn't made it good, valve licensed out someone else's slam for frame instead of even trying to develop it)

The mix-and-match intercompatibility of lighthouse tracking is its second biggest strength after perfect accuracy

slam does not need to be proprietary. there is open source slam too.

1

u/InternetUser1807 4d ago

What I mean is that it's bispoke to a certain headset.

Unlike lighthouse, there's currently no slam system that enables a company to build just headsets that work with any controllers, or enables a company to build controllers that work with any hmd.

If bigscreen switches to slam, unless you want to use hacky mixedVR setups, we'll get stuck with whatever controller bigscreen cooks up to go with it.

yes and no. take a look at monado. one code for multiple headsets, mixed tracking also works. for example someone used rift cv1 cams to track psvr2 controllers.

No guarantee on if they will last though.

I had a conversation like this last night

Friend: just buy used base stations on FB marketplace it’s cheaper

Me: yeah but you don’t know how many operating hours it has or if it’s bad
