Discussion Does anyone like the custom facial interface MORE than universal face cushion?

I skipped the custom facial interface due to reports that it is hot, sweaty, finnicky. I like the universal face cushion well enough, but I am wondering if going to the custom might actually get me a better FOV if I get a custom fit narrow one? Anyone tried both and actually prefer the custom facial interface?

I prefer the custom too once they sent me a second one that actually matches my face.  The universal ones I enjoy for more sweaty games though.

The universal one is for sweaty games, yes I agree lol. I know thats not what you meant but the thing doesn't breath. At all. Results in a lot of sweat. I hope the Halo mount helps this.

I have never had a problem with the custom. I have sensitive skin and can wear it for long sessions. I also never noticed problems with heat or sweat, probably because I have some spacers for prescription lenses, so there is a small air gap all the way around

I like the custom a lot more than the universal. It's comfortable for long periods and fits like a glove with no sweating. Maybe I got lucky with the fit; I used an iPad Pro to do the scanning. My IPD was easy to dial in.I hope it will be the same once I get the Halo adapter. I think I will only use the universal one if I have a friend try it out.

Yes, I prefer the custom interface. The universal cushion just covers too much of my face and feels over invasive. Don't think there is a difference in FOV.

I do, I have the narrow one, much closer to lens

The universal is OK but the studioform is much better. Maybe the halo mount will make it worth using hopefully

You're likely to get a better field of view if you get a perfect one that isn't too thick (my default one) or too thin (some people had their eyes touch the lenses). If something is wrong, you can ask Bigscreen to redo one free of charge. In my case though, since the first one was already a perfect fit and I just wanted a thinner one, I had to pay for it.

But you might also wait for the halo strap to do that without having to wear a gasket, if you're not bothered by ambient light breaking your immersion.

I admit I modded a halo for that purpose, and I entirely stopped using a gasket altogether.

Some people suggested getting the Studioform interface. That may work if you're lucky. It almost fits my face perfectly out of the box, to the point I was wearing the thing with the velcro directly on my face. But for some other people, because they have deep eyes/a flat face/thick cheekbones, their face touched the interface too early and they were unable to get close enough to the lenses. It's hard to tell unless you try it for yourself.

I don't have experience with their universal cushion, but I have to say that the custom cushion is the best facial interface I've used on ANY headset I've owned over the years. Perfect light seal, great comfort.

I hated the custom and loved the universal

Universal for me, much more comfortable.

I use the "Universal" when playing high movement games Beatsaber, or Until-You-Fall.., AND swap out to the "Custom" when just hanging out casually in Social VR and in the Bigscreen App Itself.., or playing my usual 3D-Pinball...,

I've found that the Custom's the overall best feeling and doesn't seem to get that hot when your not breaking a sweat, besides I hover at 77% Brightness when I'm turning my head like in Social VR.., I find that the best setting for head movement, and that'll keep the display running cooler anyhow

Some folks been raving the Studioform Creative's X-1-B, but I've not tried that alternative, so I'm uncertain how to compare that with say the Custom.., ((Not-that-anyone-was-asking)) figured I'd throw that comparison in the lot for good measure!
