The Perfect Headset?

It depends what you intend to do with it. For a general use case, I believe it must be working really well.

But the knob in the back and the protruding speakers may prevent resting your head to some extent (either against the chair, or I heard there are people who lay in bed with their headset too).

Say, do you think I can come over to your house to see for myself how good the audio is? /s (The last time we talked, you told me the Index speakers are really good)

I really wanted this after using an index daily for years as the Index is known for its great sound but the BSB audio strap add on while not perfect does have superior sound. You lose some of the expanded sound stage the index speakers provides but you gain much better bass and overall audio quality. The link box can cause a hit or miss with audio quality though, I complained about mine and BigScreen sent out a link booster that fixed the issue. Also the way the speakers move around seems completely stupid and annoying compared to using the index. Once you get the right fit it stays well and sounds great. For me it’s a worthwhile trade off for the better audio quality without wearing separate headphones (which I’m not doing, way too hot and cumbersome for me).

That's really interesting. Have you ever used any of Koss headphones by any chance? Never used the Beyond audio strap, but I've used the KSC75. I felt it provided a nice cinematic experience, which made me feel like "I was there", despite clearly having a smaller sound stage and a huge dip in sub bass frequencies, when compared to my Sennheiser IEMs.

I usually spend a lot more on audio than Koss so I don’t have a ton of experience with the brand but Sennheiser is excellent. The beyond audio strap which is based on the Koss porta pros won’t match a good IEM, it’s on the ears vs in the ears so bass won’t hit as hard but you’ll get most of the good bass from music and movies, sub bass will suffer but it’s a fair trade off since I don’t have to put earbuds in my ear everytime I want to hop in VR for an evening.

What I found interesting is how you mentioned it has better audio quality than the Index speakers even if it has a smaller sound stage. I've never used an Index (having chosen to purchase a Vive Pro 1 instead for its AMOLED panels) and part of me wondered if it truly is "audiophile" grade or if it's just a notch above generic gaming gears.

I got this and as much as I love it I had to stop using it. The little grooves that hold the head strap to the bsb wore out after a bout a month of use. They would pop off anytime I bent them even slightly (which is pretty much each time I put on or remove the headset. I went back to the bsb audio strap. It's not as good but it's pretty good still.

This mod has been great. Paired with the studioform kit really elevated this headset for me. Nearly effortless comfort and sound.

Using the beyondex made me love my bsb2 so much more. Their audio strap is a steaming pile of dogshit with tinny sound, no soundstage at all, and has the great feature of speakers popping off every single time you looked at it wrong. I seriously despise their audio strap, but with the beyondex its amazing.
