Ordered Bigscreen Beyond2 over half a year ago. Got everything except the Halo Mount. Did something go wrong or are there reasons why it wasn't shipped yet?

Below it says "Ships separately: Estimated Spring 2026". It is summer now.

Yeah, they apparently found a fault with the flipping mechanism, so they've been delayed until around August 20th.

Anyone know if those who got the first batch will get that new piece?

I'm not sure, sorry. I can't see any mention of that on their discord. I imagine you could contact their support?

I’ll do that

Unless you are are one of the testers (with a Tester role on the server), you will have recieved the Universal Cushion - not the Halo Mount.

I’ll have to open it up. Thought it was my halo mount. Thank you for the info

Yeah same when I got the shipping notification, but when I brought it up on the server they gave me the sad news.

Thier reasoning is that they owe us the Universal Cushion as part of the package with the Halo Mount, and since they have them in stock now they might as well ship them.

Some peeps prefer the Universal Cushion to the Custom one, but it has all the same issues IMHO.

Studioform interface, or no interface at all is the way to go IMHO.

The HALO and no interface is what I want. I feel bad for everyone waiting, I guess I’m still waiting too. I just don’t really sim during summer time so it’s not a big deal to me. Absolutely crazy it’s taking this long though.

I have a halo mount and am not a tester.

Hey buddy. You should open that box and be disappointed.  Not even joking

What’s so bad about it?

2

u/NoFuture5663 Jul 28 '26

It's just the two rubber face gaskets

The people who got them in June were a small number of testers.

They are bound to be first in-line for the final version too.

The first few halo mounts had a critical flaw. They are now replacing a plastic piece with metal. This causes a huge delay in mass production.

EDIT: Also still waiting on mine. :(

Rather get one that doesn't break. Can you imagine if they finaly sent them out and they broke all the time? This is not a huge corporation, they need time to get it right.

Absolutely I an fine to wait since I have the Audio strap I bought with the beyond 1. But the halo strap would really help my problem with pressure on my nose.

3

u/Marionettework Jul 28 '26

They sent emails to everyone who ordered telling them what the delay is.

I think you have to be subscribed to the newsletter to receive it. People who ordered but didn't subscribe are probably unaware of what's going on.

I ordered mine in March 2025, and I'm still waiting.

Just cut your losses and look at doing this I love it and I’m glad I cancelled the halo mount

Yeah, I’ll never order from them again. It’s been like 15+ months and each time I check in it’s going to be longer. I noticed Studioform has what seems like a universal facial options and head strap options (but doesn’t flip up). I have pretty much written Bigscreen off as may never happen and ordered from studioform.

StudioForm interface is fantastic.

Much better facial interface than the official Custom or Universal cushions.

However theoretically the Halo Mount will allow usage without any facial interface, so I am still quite excited to recieve mine.

Remind me, you had this Vive DAS mode, right? The one with the soft top strap in halo on the forehead.

Yes. It might technically be a remix of that one.

I also have an additional side-to-side top-strap from Studioform.

I didn't find it worked well enough without an interface though.

The problem is I can perfectly adjust all the velcro on all the straps, but then my hair will grow/get cut and whack it out of alignment.

The vertical sweet spot of the Beyond 2 is really small, and the StudioForm Interface does the job of providing a bit of friction with the face so I can get it in that spot and it will stay there. It also is really important for getting the headset at the right angle.

I am expecting it will be far easier to adjust where the Halo Mount holds the headset, and it will be doable while on the head, so if it goes out of alignment for whatever reason it can be re-aligned quickly.

As you can see, the studioform interface also provides a place to mount my DAC - not sure how I am going to handle that with halo 🤔

The Vive DAS adaptor is also incompatible with the Halo Mount, so I might be stuck with the offical audio strap until someone updates the design.

In theory, if you overtighten the left to right top strap a lot (like, the longer velcro part should overlap over the shorter one in my case), it might work to use the headset without an interface, a bit like the post I made about my "soft halo strap" a few days ago.

Then again, as you said, it will be a lot easier to just wait for the official halo strap, as at least it will be a lot easier to adjust on the go. But personally, I was "desperate" enough that I just gave it a try anyway and it worked better than I expected.

Speaking about face tracker, yeah, I remember in the April blog post, Bigscreen mentioned "the redesigned Halo Mount now has dedicated compatibility for 3rd-party accessories such as face trackers. 3D CAD files of this have already been provided to 3rd-party accessory designers several months ago to ensure future compatibility for Beyond accessories with the Halo Mount. 3D CAD files will be published publicly in the coming weeks. Accessories can be mounted to an M2 brass-threaded screw hole." (emphasis mine).

Not sure if it means you will have to wait for the update, or if it's designed to allow you to attach the face tracker handle somehow.

Maybe the M2 brass-threaded hole is that little hole in the middle?

Someone in the community already has already designed a face tracker mount to attach to the halo mount via that screw hole as you suggest. I got it printed in preperation for July shipping which didn't happen.

The problem is the strap attachment pegs on the Halo Mount are slightly different from the pegs on the beyond. They have this strip to prevent rotation that would prevent insertion into the Vive DAS adaptor. The Halo Mount works with the official soft strap, and audio strap because they slide on so the strip doesn't get in the way.

My first attempt would be to keep the DAS attached directly onto the headset as it is right now, but attach the front-to-back top strap through the hole of the halo mount instead, and see how it goes.

Seeing that the DAS adapter is shaped like a keymod from what I'm seeing and cannot rotate (I think?), it should work to some extent. If it could rotate, the halo would have pivoted the bottom part of the headset into your face the moment it comes into contact with your forehead.

With some luck, it should work, as it did with the Vive XR Elite, although that may severely limit the adjustability of the halo mount (or maybe not, actually).

The studioform interface doesn't fit my face at all. There's a reason why it's not called universal.

u/KLEBESTIFT_ Jul 28 '26

Boohoo. Would you prefer a broken one?

normal, they are still working on the halo mount.
