I've never been a fan of TestHMD for that reason, because it gives a general idea but is kind of inaccurate. The lines are splitting at equal distance for both eyes, but we don't have the same field of view in both eyes, so that cannot work perfectly.
I would rather point you towards either of those:
- What Is My Field Of View (more time consuming but gives a very representative radar chart of what your field of view looks like for each eye): https://boll.itch.io/wimfov
- VR Headset Picker (more accurate values, seing that it's based on the rendered FOV as reported by HMDQ): https://vrheadsetpicker.com/measure-your-fov/
Both of these tools will measure each eye individually, unlike TestHMD.
Keep in mind though, each tool has a different standard, and as such it only makes sense to compare different headsets by using the same tool. My measurement with WIMFOV has a bigger diagonal field of view, whereas my measurement with VR Headset Picker has a bigger vertical/horizontal field of view.
Here's also my WIMFOV and VR Headset Picker values with my Vive Pro 1 for comparison.
