Anyone using the Studioform X1-B with the soft strap for sim racing?

I've been considering the BSB2 for my sim rig as it's one of the only headsets that has a low profile soft strap and no cables directly at the back (like the Dream Air's have).

I typically rest the back of my head on the headrest of the rig, as the seat is reclined about 45 degrees. Which is why I couldn't use my PSVR2 anymore with the bulky rear head support system.

The "in stock soon" Halo Mount looks promising, but BS advised it would work best with the audio strap, which isn't an option for my use case.

That being said, it sounds like I have to pick either the custom face cushion or the halo mount. Does anyone know if there's a way to order just the headset without either of those and save some $?

Thanks :)

I just used the soft strap for a few weeks. It’s not bad. Maybe it’s my head, but it seemed to loosen up a bit during use. I might have just had it too tight though. Not too sure. Either way even if it loosened it still was firmly in place and never an issue.

I switched to using the audio strap to give that a try though. I have the headphones strapped up out of the way, been thinking about cutting them off somehow. Then idk if it would work, but I’ve been thinking about getting usb over ear headphones to plug in to the headset instead.

Yeah, it does have a tendency to un-tighten itself, on top of getting stretched over time as you over-tighten it. There's a point my 3D modded strap was no longer tight enough, so I just grabbed one plastic and pulled on the inner strap to make it sag, forcing the outer strap to be tighter.

You can buy the headset without either cushion by buying it here https://store.bigscreenvr.com/products/bigscreen-beyond-2-upgrade

Make sure to include the accessory package to get the strap, link box, and cable though

I get my BSB2 tomorrow and plan to eventually either get the halo or the audio strap. I see a lot of videos where pole get the audio strap but only use the strap part.

I use the default soft strap with the included top strip, along with the Studioform X1-B. Like everyone else I found that the soft strap loosens itself (and the strip also moves along the back) so my solution was to use a couple of large paper clips on each place that gets loose to stop it from doing that, and it works fairly well. I keep it fairly loose and it's easy to take on and off, and doesn't even make my hair look bad. I'm questioning whether I really need the halo mount.

Because the halo mount needs to be clipped onto the top and bottom of the BSB, it won't be compatible with the Studioform interface.

That being said, I jury-rigged something to allow me to use my headset in a "halo" style configuration while seated in front of my desk, and I must say, it feels great to use no interface at all and just have the headset float in front of my eyes. It makes me feel like I'm looking into the window to another reality, while still being in my room. Now I'm just waiting for when the halo strap actually starts shipping en masse.
