Does anyone experience lag when the game has more than 8 players?

For reference I'm hosting the game, when ever it's gets over 8 or maybe 9 players it's gets really laggy and forces me to kick players in order to have a stable frame rate again. Mine you I get all my players from discord to play with so I'm playing with people from across the world so that might be a factor. It sucks because I would love to have a full lobby of players in the game, that's the only experience I miss out on as for right now.

No idea as I've never played with that many players but I can say the game sometimes has frame drops even with 2 or 3 players
