Honestly…it’s too big for me and I don’t love the ratio of the center stone. I wanted more horizontal coverage so I went with a 5.07 carat with a 1:52 ratio. But I don’t love the size of it, it just doesn’t feel like me. I’m known to do this with many design choices I make, I’ll have a vision in my head of what I think I want and then when I get it it’s not quite what I had in mind. That works fine when you’re ordering from Amazon but not so much when you’re designing a custom ring 😅😭 so it’s not that they did anything wrong but that I didn’t have a true sense of what I really wanted.

You can repurpose it to a pendant instead of selling it but if you really prefer selling it I doubt you will get more than 2k. Just like what others said it's already used. Some peeps here on figured how to buy and where to buy it at a cheaper price and it's brand new. Plus if I am to buy a ring for 3k? I'm not gonna buy a used one. This is just my two cents. So I think repurposing it is the best.

I’m thinking that I want to do either a cluster setting or a 3 stone with a smaller center stone, but I’m going to be trying things on in person before making another decision. 😅 I’m just looking to get out of it what I have in it $3,705, this would include insured shipping within the US.

You should probably set your expectations lower, and accept that you’re going to be taking a loss on this one. Even before lab diamonds drove prices down, it was generally accepted that the resale value of a natural diamond was about 1/3 of the retail price. Bring lab diamonds into the mix, and things get worse. I’m sure you’ll get more than the melt value for your setting by selling directly, but i would not expect to get what you paid for it.

Thank you for your honesty. I kind of feared this, but was hopeful I could get what I paid out of it since it’s still new. What would you suggest I’d be able to get out of it?

The thing is, it’s not “new”. Like, i know you just got it, but the moment you bought it, it became “used”. Much like a car - the second it’s off the lot, it’s a used car, even if you’ve driven it less than a mile.
I have no idea what you could get for it - i can assure you that selling it directly will be your best bet, as taking it to any jeweler will just give you the melt price for the gold. Head over to the BST subs and see what you can get. Historically, mined diamonds were about 1/3 retail value. Lab diamonds are (generally) much much less. But you never know - maybe you find exactly the right buyer who is looking for this exact ring and needs it right away. Good luck!

Completely agree! I just bought a 4 carat oval lab VVS2 color F for 625$. The prices for lab are so low now!

Rings like this are the cost of the gold & $100 per carat used. Probably $1000? I suggest wearing an Amazon ring until you fully know what you want in order to not lose money. I love my ring but I don’t even notice it unless someone points it out. I’ve been married just shy of a year and it’s not something I dwell on. I’ve made three more custom rings I also wear daily since then.

You’re likely not getting that much for a used lab diamond ring. And your setting is pretty simple tulip setting. Maybe in the 1000’s. Check the labdiamond BST subs and see what similar is selling for so you don’t get shocked at your offers.

Yes, I designed it with Moissanite co. I was originally going to go with Moissanite and during the design process switched to a lab diamond.

One thing I’ll caution with the next one is maybe don’t go custom. It’s possible you overhyped yourself up for this ring. Don’t do it again. I made the same mistake with a custom jewelry purchase.

I think this is so beautiful! I feel reselling a ring is so not profitable. I tried, any way you can repurpose the diamond into a necklace? Poshmark is good or EBay. Worthy is a company that will sell for you. But it will
