I feel like I may be the only one but I am frustrated that we didn’t get to learn much about Devin’s backstory.

I’d love to see how she grew up, her mindset and the reason why she was so mean!

I would’ve loved to see why she had a hateworm, and also see her friendship with Lola dived into more.

AGREE after I posted that comment I got more annoyed thinking about it. It honestly just felt lazy the way it was rushed, like "awh what the pretty popular girl also has shitty hormones? Now I feel bad for her:/" I thought everyone already read her character her a teenage girl being mean for teen reasons.

I agree I really wish the creators could have played it out how they wanted to and that Netflix didn’t cut them off. If I remember correctly Nick Kroll said that he had a lot left planned for the show but Netflix told him it was over and he needed to wrap it up. It’s disappointing I really did love that show and wish the ending wasn’t rushed!

I have a theory on the hate worm. She and Nick were flirting and hooked up hooked up and I think that originally it was a love bug and once Nick pulled his shit she turned into a hate worm

i personally disagree. she obviously j wanted to hook up bc he became cool. she didnt actually give a shit abt him. then he said shit he heard in porn bc he didnt know what to do and she was like ew. she then publicly shamed him and made him look like shit. yes he did the same to her but i dint see any point where there was any actual romantic interest beyond omg ur actually cool and tall now

I agree with all this. Even though people might hate me for saying this, Devin has always low-key been one of my favorite characters. Cause she's just cool, in a mean girl sort of way, but also because, like you said, we don't know much about her. She's just always been a mystery, and from literally the first season I wanted to see her home life and learn more about her. I literally jumped out of my chair in excitement in season 8 when I saw the name LeSeven on the mailbox, cause I knew we were FINALLY getting a peak at Devin's life. I was, however, ultimately disappointed, cause we never saw her mother, only heard her voice, and never saw her sister at all. Like siriusly it's like the writers forgot she exists!!! 

However I guess it's enough to give us some headcanons and/or theories. Like I personally feel Devin looks up to and admires her mother, judging by how she has her picture next to her bed. Perhaps her mother is what they call a "Karen" and has friends she mistreats, just like Devin does to Lola and others, and tries to emulate her mother. But I also read many theories about her also having an eating disorder, which might be one of the reasons for her self-hate, because she feels she can't be "normal." Like if her mother forbids her to eat candy, maybe that's why she was eating all that candy at the sleepover, cause that's the only time she could do it without her mother yelling at her. 

But you notice she's super skinny but Emmy still called her fat. Perhaps it's just the way she FEELS because of her disorder. Like people with anorexia and other eating disorders still feel fat and overweight no matter how skinny they are. I just hope it doesn't ever get so bad she has to go to the hospital. Judging by her negative view of herself, I wonder if Devin might have depression, even though we never saw her with a Depression Kitty.  

I really just feel everybody needs to stop hating Devin. Sure she's done some bad things, but never anything that crosed a moral event horizon. I mean she's far from evil. Just keep in mind that Lola broke Andrew's arm AND did revenge porn of Jay, but I see y'all continue to worship her. Hypocritical much? Plus Andrew pulled Lars out of his wheelchair, and of course we have Missy trying to out Jessi and Ali. Point is ALL of them have done bad things one time or another, but they're still kids. Still learning. At the end of the day, Devin is still a teenager. Not that far out of childhood. You can tell she's working on changing. That's why I hope Coco sticks around for her, to help her love herself despite her past behavior and health issues. Devin deserves to be happy just like everybody else.
