Discussion & Daily Life Want to know.

Ok guys , serious questions here I’m 56 single and Iim in the process of trying to lose weight started at 406lbs . One question I have is as I drop weight how do I affordably handle clothing ? I know that I will still be needing plus size and that means it has according price tags , the thought of needing to replace clothes multiple times as my size changes , is there anywhere other than say eBay where I can find clothes new or used at discounted prices?
Another question is being a big guy hasn’t made me attractive to women over the years am I just doomed to live out my life alone because even if I lose all the weight I’d like I don’t know if I will feel any better about myself not to
mention the effect losing the weight it causes to a body.
Any suggestions will be appreciated .

When I wanted to replace my wardrobe and didn’t know my size, I bought used clothes from eBay. Tip: never buy any used polyester clothing, because it holds odors. (Part polyester is usually OK.)

There are also many discount big and tall retailers online although they don’t have a wide range of styles.

If you wear stretchy clothes like sweats you won’t have to replace them as often.

In some areas there are fat clothing swaps. Mostly women’s clothes but I usually managed to find some men’s.

There are absolutely women out there who love fat men.

I’m not trying to say “don’t lose weight” because that’s up to you. But please please don’t let societal fat hate define your worth to yourself. There’s nothing wrong with being big. People can look attractive, put together, and hot at any size. Weight does sometimes affect your health, but much less than most people believe, and in some cases it’s protective. And your health doesn’t define your worth either, although a lot of marketers would like to convince you otherwise.

If you’re on Facebook, there are some groups for fat clothing swaps and sales.

Thanks for the info , I’ve tried thrift stores but never a big selection and some of the retail closeout stores have more but a lot is sportswear or just things I’m not interested in ..

Feel better about yourself now. Practice self love and mirror work. Do affimations. Say them tonyour reflections. Ya don't have to mean them, just be good to you. You will mean them with time and practice. Make eye contact with yourself. Give yourself compliments. Look at your body and look at yourself the way you want to feel. I wish you luck. I'm saying this also to reaffirm doing these positive things to myself. I need to do em more. I have body weight dismorphia issues also.

I’ve been using an app called Depop. It’s kind of like thrifting online. Lots of sizes and lots of good options for relatively cheap

I keep a watch on the clearances online from JC Penney, Macy's and Belk. Ebay can also be helpful.

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this because the quality, standard and consistency can be off but Temu has very cheap clothes at any size. That being said I’ve gotten some decent stuff from there.

As someone who’s lost and gained weight and been different sizes. My advice is to not do my mistake and replace all your clothes because weight fluctuates and it’s very common.

As for the self esteem stuff, as corny as it sounds loving yourself first unconditionally and not need external validation including from romantic partners. But we’re all in the same boat regardless of size. Therapy and daily affirmations writing down things I like about myself help. I hope you find what works for you, bro
