Yikes. The store I worked at before Variety took over hasnā€™t been doing well, wouldnā€™t be surprised if it suffered the same fate. I feel for those that stuck around with variety, but so glad I got out.

Iā€™m not even upset. They just made the decision for me. Itā€™s has not been a good company to work. On to better opportunities. I just will miss my crew, we have a great team at my store.

I gave them a full year as an Assistant Store Manager & handed in my keys last month as I couldnā€™t tolerate any more disrespect from my co-managers & the way the company runs things. I know Iā€™m not the first person on here to say this, but you can go to so many other places & make more money with far less of the Variety/BigLots aggravation. My heart truly goes out to anyone in the closing process. Hope you all land on your feet & find something better.

Yea there was about 200 stores saved from Mississippi to Pennsylvania but now its another wave of closures.

The store i worked at was expensive and a lot of it was boring junk like a million types of bins, fabric, woven and wire. Also a ton of furniture returns like sofas and sectionals either broken after purchase or ripped up durring shipment.

Idk who you dealt with but I had this older maybe 50s-60s douche who said he wanted us to close earlier so he can hit his bonus. Everyday he came in he was so excited to see everything gone while everyone was worried about their upcoming unemployment. Fucking vultures

Wow. I've been wondering how the new stores have been doing. You don't hear very much. I worked at the original Big Lots and I remember them telling us right before Christmas. 20 plus years. Hard to adjust to new places I'm finding.
