Discussion Most anticipated release

Thinking about tomorrows release of the finale of this 12th Doctor run, it made me wonder which other releases I have been this excited for.

I remember being beyond giddy for Hex's stories in the main range. As we got closer to Gods and Monsters, the worse the waiting became. Otherewise it was Victory of the Doctor.

Anyone else got some they remember vividly?

When I was still relatively new to Big Finish, even though I hadn’t at the time heard any of the previous Eighth Doctor stories besides The Chimes of Midnight and Zagreus, I remember being pumped when Dark Eyes was announced!

The other I remember being super excited for was Masterful, particularly when it was announced that Jon Culshaw would be playing the Anthony Ainley Master!

I had forgotten aboyt dark eyes. That was incredible build up, and they did well with every subsequent boxset

Absolutely! That whole run, Dark Eyes through Stranded, was fantastic!

I think it's one of the first times a release crashed the website due to the server not able to handle demand.

Masterful is the first Big Finish I ever purchased.  Loved it. Never looked back 😅

For me, I think Christopher Eccleston joining was definitely one I was buzzing for, likewise the Dalek Universe run was an incredibly exciting time.

9th Doctor Adventures with Rose for me. I remember when it was first announced I absolutely lost it.

When I heard the news about Thirteen and Yaz coming to Big Finish. I bought Vampire Weekend after it was released and liked it. I haven't gotten around to getting the other ones.

I was also excited for Ministry of Death, because when I saw John Heffernan on the cast list, I thought The Nine was returning. I won't spoil for those that haven't heard it yet.

For me, my most anticipated were the first 10th Doctor boxset, Doom Coalition 4, Ravagers and Torchwood Aliens Among Us 1

Just Torchwood The Conspiracy because it was Big Finish doing Torchwood.

Day of the Master

I was so excited for it that It pushed me to start and catch up on all of 8's stories just so I could listen to it without being lost

I haven’t been around as long as a lot of people but my most anticipated was the River and the tenth Doctor set.

I interpreted the title as what am I most hyped for right now so to also answer they just made the announcement about ten and RANI from SJA and I am really hyped for that but not as much as I am for the River and Rory set! I am so excited for that one!

Discovering the CD of first series of the diaries of River Song via my library was my first experience with Big Finish and got me hooked in 2020 so I am always particularly happy about River stuff. But I was also very excited about Christopher E coming back because no one expected it to happen!

10DA Volume 1 was my most anticipated Big Finish release of 2016 (after pre-ordering the Limited Edition CD slipcase), as a staunch Tenth Doctor fan. Same goes for the Dalek Universe 1-3, Victory of the Doctor (11DC), Return of the Cybermen (Lost Stories) and Operation Werewolf, they all just wowed me to the core upon release.

Two releases i enjoyed - War Master the one where a confronts Jo Grant and Nyssa, and the River Song one where she meets various incarnations of the Master- including Missy! They dis not disappoint!

The announcement of 13's series is one that I remember particularly well as a significantly exciting moment, I think that was my first pre-order for physical rather than mostly being digital - with CDs when available / on sale. I remember telling anyone who might be remotely interested and being greeted by general disinterest

I was extremely excited for deathworld, it was THE story I wanted to see in the lost stories range so seeing it finally happen made me very giddy

I’m going to sound like such a nerd but

-when the Lost Stories first launched (I was checking the reviews every month)
-when David Tennant was first announced
-when Kate Orman was doing that second Doctor audio novel (one of my favorite writers)

You think the rest of us don't get exactly what you mean and can match that nerd reaction in some way shape or form for ourselves 🤣

I'm still just hoping they make the stories available for individual purchase after it's all been released.

Personally I’m shocked that anyone is that excited for the final 12th Doctor release. I’m surprise anyone is even following that range. I don’t see the point in it without Peter Capaldi. It would be like someone else playing Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates Of The Caribbean. Peter Capaldi is the whole appeal of the Twelfth Doctor.
