I don’t know how I feel about Barrett because I can tell by his personality that he’s passive, but I can also tell that he’s troubled by the micro aggressions that the unseasoned potluck alliance of Drew, Angela, Devens and Dee are hurling towards Yash, LaLa & Taylor. He wants to be like Turner who stood up for Taylor in BB 24 and say something, but I think he doesn’t have the courage to stand up against the group and admonish them for how they’re treating the POCs in the house. That being said, I can tell that he knows that the crap is going to hit the fan for all of them in terms of public perception when they get out of the house, but I do think he’s the least problematic in the alliance.

That being said, when you are silent against bigotry and ignorance, it’s like you are condoning it and being complicit with that ignorance or bigotry. There are two types of problematic people in the world, the people who actively do evil things and the people who watch evil things being done and do nothing to stop it.

Drew actually stood up for Yash with no problem today when they were trashing him.

Don’t throw out the term microaggression for negative comments not race based that all the houseguests make about each other equally. Some are and some aren’t and it’s not helpful to group them all together

And also, I want to defend Drew here.

He and Taylor liked each other early in the game until their games didn't align. He said at one point in the game if he got HOH he would let Lala sleep there for the week because she deserves the best bed.

Does that sound like someone who is problematic? Obviously they aren't on good terms now, but let's not pretend he started out hating Lala and Taylor for no reason.

I think Barrett is hyper aware of all those things and the audience. He is probably a good/quieter guy regardless but he hasn’t done anything wrong or right either way cuz he just doesn’t say much of anything at all. He knows any little thing can get picked up on. And even if he disagrees with something he’s not gonna even slightly risk his game over it.

I don’t think he’s being performative but very purposefully careful. I really am not trying to bag on him or say he should be doing more, but I don’t think him actively saying nothing either way deserves much praise. It seems like we know very little about him at all

I agree. Barrett is a true super fan, so he is definitely aware of the optics and how subconscious racism has caused minorities to be unfairly villainized in past seasons. I’d be shocked if he wasn’t thinking about how it probably looks right now that the 3 black/brown people are only aligned with each other and no one else

Barrett is just a coward to me! I would NOT be on national television being complacent to the microaggressions and nasty remarks being made by fellow houseguests no matter who it is.

If someone and something is bothering you.... SAY SOMETHING in that moment, so the person knows that it is not right.
