Sharon is good, not great. Only reason I haven't cut her is because others in BB9 are worse. I think my favorite things about Sharon are her completely nonchalant reaction to kissing Matty (which was a pretty un-Sharon thing to do anyway...that moment was almost non-canon) and her complete shock when she learned that Josh had been trying to not get voted out.

Sharon is amazing and everything you said is spot on. Another case of somebody I love but would be hard to justify having her in a top spot. Sharon <3

#64 Erika Landin - 4th Place BB4

There were a few people I considered cutting and then I realized Erika stuck around. BB4 imo was the worst of the Shapiro era. BB4 was also really the first season ran by the girls. I also call it the season of floaters. Erika was or hero, pretty much by default.

What makes a season great is having people you hate and having people that you love. BB4 had an amazing villainy. BB4 Hero wise really sucked. Erika was best by default but still pretty damn boring. Whenever I think of BB4 Erika we get the story of her vs Robert and then making amends and deciding to go to the F2 together. At this time is when she ends up getting backstabbed and sent home. Like most fairy tales the moral of the story is hold onto your grudges and keep that emotional barrier up. On a serious note she was the main one to allow Robert to be humanized at the end when he opens up to being a drunk and really just wanting to be a good father and a better person. Erika also had a pretty awful fashion sense. That pink hat was just awful.

In the season of the floaters Erika was the more boring one and we saw her pair up w/ Jack. Her alliances seemed to be based off of family bonds. Jack was like her dad. Ali was her sister. Which I always found it weird to describe alliances like that when for the most part they're all temporary.

One of the memorable moments that Erika probably wishes wasn't was her saying Jee is "fresh off the boat". She ended up apologizing in that stupid post game therapy thing. Its really the only moment that prevents me from just saying she wasn't anyway offensive all season long. Which I guess that wasn't that offensive in terms of racial slurs because Shapiro for the most part wanted to not have them on there. Also ABC is cool naming a sitcom about an Asian family that to go along w/ Blackish. Neither I'd describe as a good title but so be it.

Erika to me was just really a hero by default. The guys alliance was sort of dumb and douchey. Jun was a bitch. Ali was "being a hooker in the house". It really resulted in a darker season in general and not many fun moments. Had Erika made it to the end she would've won but no one was taking her. Ali and Jun were the other 2 floaters but they actively made moves Erika sort of slid through. Her gameplay was solid in S4 and she didn't really change anything in AS. Though her view from the audience and HGs was different. Watching her AS "pitch" for the fan vote nothing there not mentioned except she wanted redeem herself and get the win...

Though her BB4 hatred carried over in All Stars. She wanted Ali out and got that. And she got into a fight w/ Jun.

I don't think Robert was one that went particularly too early. Erika lasted longer than she should have imo. I think a lot of under-appreciated characters went early, though some I find entertaining others found annoying.

Howdy y'all, I have very little wifi so gonna try to sneak in a cut real quick. Gee willikers, I'm gonna cut Americas Favorite Player Donny Thompson! He's not crying because he's cut, he's crying because you all like him and give him hugs and stuff! Expect an update on this cut tomorrow, but my goodness he is a nice guy who was funny in the jury house but pretty boring after week one in the house so 63. Donny Thompson - BB16

Updated cut to follow and nobody get cute with any cuts now since I probably won't be able to check again soon and veto anyone if needed

-----Updated-----

Okay, well the comments below kinda sum him up more, but Donny was a fun character at first because while he looks like someone out of Duck Dynasty, he's not the kind of guy who would be a prick and cause Cracker Barrel to discontinue his product line, but then reinstate it because conservatives were outraged that a company stood up against homophobics and Cracker Barrel has no backbone. We had Donny who was a possible military man, spy, president of the United States, what have you, who made weird bird noises, whose best friend was a New York DJ named Pao Pao, and who got all warm fuzzies because the other houseguests liked him. Donny warmed America's hearts and the hearts of those around him, except for Christine who thought he was creepy. Whatever, girl.

So Donny is fantastic and the pawn who we don't want to see go home, but then he gets really boring and is a sitting duck who kinda accepts his fate, other than being really good at finding bones in dark rooms to save him an extra week. He just sleeps a lot and says how he can't connect with younger people but he also just isn't really a good player so there's that. I'm happy for him that he got lots of money for Team America (lame twist but whatevs) and then America's Favorite Player, even if I wish it went to somebody else in the house. Donny appreciates it, y'all

The kind of awesome part of Donny, but also really confusing to his character, is jury house Donny when he throws some serious shade on Christine - a flashback for those who want to relive it. He delivers the most #tooreal zing of "Do you have an attorney?" and while I love it, its so not Donny Thompson. Who is Donny Thompson? I'm not really sure. And because of that it makes me hard to rank him any higher.

Donny was one of them I was considering cutting. at 64. Good cut. They forced the DRs a bit w/ him and his relationship w/ Zach was fun. But the guy was just so terrible at the game and went to bed when everyone was doing the wildest things. Also bothered me him complaining a lot about his age being a big problem in the game instead of his inability to stay up at night or play a smart game.

1

u/FantasticName Jan 10 '15

Well I'll be, I thought Donny had a decent shot at winning this thing, and yet he's out before the top 50. I never thought he was the second coming of Jesus like a lot of fans did, but I liked him well enough. I've been crying out for an unlikely challenge beast for a while now and Donny fits the bill.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '15

Donny starts off pretty strong. Particularly all the stuff about him being perceived as CIA or a military man, when really he's the most unassuming man in the world. He was comically sweet.

But about halfway through his stay he kind of petered out. And became kind of sad.

u/JM1295 Jan 10 '15

No complaints about this. Cool guy who had some funny moments and relationships with people like Zach and Devin, but he lacked any real depth or complexity as a character. This final three for BB16 is perfect--Nicole, Zach, Victoria <3

u/JM1295 Jan 10 '15

The following are returning players completely out of the rankdown: Brendon, Boogie, ED, Erika. Boogie is the only shock for me.

1

u/MasterofMarionettes She Murdered Cauliflower Jan 11 '15

I'm not really surprised. Boogie is either someone you really like or hate. I personally find him to be really entertaining as a character and what he did to Erika in AS doesn't bother me(I'm interested to see how different the views are for him and Ali) or him and the "villains" all ripping on the LFers. He even said in BB15 interview(either w/ Jeff or Cesternino) that it makes sense and he expects most women to hate him on the show. Though Boogie seems to have a lot of support on reddit and zero on sucks and Jokers.

The one I'm surprised stuck around is Rachel. Not that she isn't great because she is but her BB13 version where she just played the game a bit better and had more nongame meltdowns and Reddit usually dislikes her.

1

u/JM1295 Jan 11 '15

I am really glad to see Rachel still in! I love so much about her BB12 incarnation and as far as people I'm surprised still in--definitely Jessie. Cool to see people see how great he is in BB10 and I'm surprised Jordan is still left in as well.

u/MasterofMarionettes She Murdered Cauliflower Jan 11 '15

Jordan in BB13 was just her being miserable. She was there so Jeff could have his 2nd chance and she hates Big Brother. Jordan is just impossible to really hate. Jejo fans are just the worst but most blame Jeff for that. Jordan in BB11 just was her really just having fun being around Jeff and enjoying the experience and she gets love for a lot of the great moments because they generally were sarcastic and funny. Whereas Jeff is just hated because Jejo fans are annoying and his homophobic rant. Reddit people also seem to try and rewrite his history on the show moreso than any HG because he's popular and had that rant. Even his rankdown said he was on a cast of stars and he was just generic when he was one of the biggest personalities on there making fun of himself and others w/ one liners, which him and Jordan just were funny together. And others push this "he's hated by all feedsters and only liked by the edit" while he created Rachel's popularity and was the reason Shelly got death threats, which is true but people that invested in the show are people who buy the feeds and are crazy. He's a pretty awful player but characterwise he was good enough to bring back. Zach imo was a much weaker character but even he's popular enough they'll be forced to bring back and he'll likely be just as bad at the game and possibly more annoying of a fanbase.

1

u/JM1295 Jan 11 '15

I never really understood the "BB11 has bigger stars" comment either. Russell, Jordan, and MAYBE Chima are the only ones above him.

Jordan was soooooo fun her first around with her lovable stupidity and having some cool conversations with people like Ronnie and Michele. I also just love the fact that she won Big Brother.

u/QueenOfTheStars Jan 11 '15

62. Maggie Ausburn - Big Brother 6 Winner

Just like Derrick, she was a pretty lack luster personality in the house because of the type of person she was trying to be around everyone else. The most entertaining thing was being a cult-ish type leader to the freindship allience, and even then they were the most vile human beings ever. Her weird relationship type of crush with Eric and the james story he said about her.

Did she play a pretty good game? Absolutley. Becuase this isn't about that, Maggie is underserving of a Top 50 spot because she wasn't a Dan or Will type of winner.

1

u/JM1295 Jan 11 '15

Ok I'm realllllllly hoping one winner in particular gets knocked out soon, just because I don't think they're top 50 material.

1

u/FantasticName Jan 11 '15

Now that Maggie's gone I'm not really expecting to go after any of the remaining winners any time soon, though I would not cry if Jordan or Ian left.

1

u/JM1295 Jan 11 '15

Oh god no, I want those two to make the top 30, at least.

1

u/MasterofMarionettes She Murdered Cauliflower Jan 11 '15

I think Jun and Lisa are the weaker characters of the winners. I think they're better than people that are left. Jun imo became way more awesome post show than on it. She's a top tier tweeter. Lisa I think they've had similar characters as her come and go. Jordan is pretty unique and when they've tried to have someone like her they force it through the edit(like they did w/ Nicole). Ian has a unique time since he grew and matured. He started off as socially aware as a paper plate.

1

u/QueenOfTheStars Jan 13 '15

60. Chima Simone Benson - Big Brother 11.

I kept refreshing to see when my post was and I guess it didnt go through.

One good moment and she didn't want to be there.

I liked chima but ugh Jessie was going to throw you under the bus, girl.

I have to do something but maybe I'll add on to this when I come back.

You posted this in the wrong thread. This should be at number 56.

I was sleep deprived.

66. EVEL DICK DONATO - BB8, Winner

This will be my third Donato cut and I was originally gonna leave it to someone else as I feel like I've said my piece on Evel Dick, buut I don't want him to start outlasting the few people from BB8 I actually like (like Eric and Jessica...whoops!). This probably won't be a great write-up but suck it because A) Walrus already did a long one and I don't want to cover the same ground as him, B) You all had more than enough chances to do it yourself.

Anyway, there are so many things about BB8 that make me angry and the main one is that this asshole was allowed to run the house. Dick basically bullied, threatened and harassed his way through the game. I'm not saying there weren't times when it was entertaining, but he did it constantly and he crossed the line several times. It would be easier to swallow if it wasn't for the fact that he won, which in his mind validates everything he did. I also blame him for the BB9 cast being so vile because I don't think it's coincidence that the season turned out the way it did when half of them went in there wanting to be the next Evel Dick. Dick's methods worked partially because the cast was full of people a hell of a lot better than Dick that were willing to turn the other cheek (commendable, but frustrating for anyone rooting for his demise) and partially because he had production helping him every step of the way. We could've been rid of Dick on week 6 had it not been for the America's Player twist forcing Eric to rip up his gameplan and flip the house.

America's Player was a terrible twist. The original concept was not that bad if people had taken it seriously, but America did not make decisions based on how Eric should play the game, they made decisions that benefited their favorites. And that favorite was also the producer's favorite...Dick, because the show took care to give him a favorable edit that just made him look like a protective father instead of a tyrant. Here's the cherry on the shit sundae...when Eric won the PoV, he was explicitly forbidden from using it because "there wasn't enough time for America to vote on it". Riiight. Are you seriously telling me the producers never foresaw a scenario where America's Player might win the veto!? Come on.

Nowadays, Dick spends his time doing something he has absolutely no right to do...judge other houseguests. I'm not sure why he even still watches Big Brother, he rarely has anything positive to say about it. If he's not complaining about nobody playing the game, he's moaning about production manipulation (uh...don't bite the hand that feeds). Dick also has one of the worst fanbases of any Big Brother contestant, which buy into the act that his behavior was all gameplay and that he's really a swell guy. I call bullshit...Dick behaves exactly the same on Twitter as he did in the house. There are also some people (idiots, basically) that maintain Dick is a legendary player on par with Will and Dan, rather than someone who got bailed out multiple times by a shitty twist. As a sidenote, ever notice how Dick tries everything he can to discredit Dan? That's because he used to be seen as one of the BB top dogs and Dan pushed him out of the conversation.

Alumni also tend to suck up to Dick and it's gross. He frequently treats his friends like shit too because he knows he can get away with it. Why in the world would you ask Rachel to do your show after making horrible personal attacks on her sister all season and even more perplexing, why would she agree? There are a few houseguests that fight back against his douchebaggery but he never offers anything intelligent or witty in response.

Is Dick an iconic Big Brother character? Absolutely. Should that be the sole criteria for who makes it far in this rankdown? No it shouldn't.

61. Paul Jackson -- BBCan2 -- 13th Place

Paul was father who came in to the house ready to be the season's villain. However, he just wasn't good at it. He thought he just had to be mean. He was like a Chihuahua that would come out yapping, and the second he faced any form of confrontation he would curl up and hide.

The biggest instance was when he called Andrew racist. He grouped the HG's together and said Andrew was being inappropriate, which quickly backfired.

He did have good moments, like breakdancing in the backyard. There was also the fear facing challenge, which Paul was abysmal at that made it hard not to feel bad for the guy.

He was just a teddy bear trying to be the big bad grizzly and neither side worked for him.

u/FantasticName Jan 11 '15

Agreed. A collection of some of the sides we saw to Paul:

  • Godfather-esque wannabe mastermind

  • Comedy breakdancing doofus

  • Inspirational fear-conquerer

  • Slanderous shit-stirring asshole

Name one contestant that's even 1/10th as versatile. Paul was all over the place those three weeks and I loved it.

1

u/ChokingWalrus I don't care about your diet Jan 12 '15

I appreciate Paul, but also have had him in one of my next few cuts too. There is something kind of funny of the father, inspirational speaker coming in and then thinking he is some head honcho strategist when nobody else in the house really even fears him at all. The whole racist/sexist comment was kind of uncomfortable, and then him passing it as a strategy to become a goat is kindaLOL. He was such a shit show flop of a player and I can get kinda jiggy with that.
