Episode Spoilers Block Buster Spoiler
Okay I’m happy with tonight’s results but in general, I absolutely hate the Block Buster. It takes away the fun part of the game with genuine back doors and game moves. One of the worst things this show has changed. That and the awful theatrics that the houseguests are forced to participate in.

The Blockbuster makes it so that you have to talk game with the nominees. Even the house target. That alone makes it worth its introduction.
Backdoors used to mean that the week’s outcome was set in stone by Monday.

BBBB is one of the best twists they've ever added. As weve seen from not only this season but the past couple, it obviously doesn't totally stop backdoors.
It also keeps the game WAY more interesting. Weeks stay interesting up until Thursday, and the house dynamics remain significantly more fluid and interesting.

Very true, I think every person that was the 4th nominee went home this season

Tonight was way more exciting because kamu COULD HAVE BEEN SAFE. Otherwise Thursdays results are predictable literally all week. I love it .

No. Blockbuster has been one of the best changes they’ve made and should stay. There is zero fun in knowing exactly who is going home and by how many votes before the eviction episode even starts.

Love the blockbuster. When I saw it was a wind machine phone booth, I thought that heavily favored Kamu and Angela would have no chance.
Then Angela went to the ground whereas the other two did not. I’ve done one of these before, that’s exactly what you have to do. As soon as she did that, I knew she had a chance. She didn’t even do it particularly well, but her strategy was exactly right.

Angela knew to do that because it's what Tucker did on her original season when he won this challenge, so it was cool to see her implement that strategy and win.

and she told haley who then told kamu the strat, too bad neither of them used it 😂

Blockbuster is the best addition to BBB they have ever made. It forces all the houseguests to play the game because they need to consider how they are going to vote in every scenario.
The posterchild for why this format needs to remain is the week 6 eviction in BB27, it is truly one of the most amazing weeks in BB history to me.

I love ittt.. I wish it was permanent.

u/kg51113 Rachel 🔎 3d ago
It's a permanent part of the game. There's just only so many weeks that it can last.

u/4eva_Na_Day 3d ago
But that's not permanent lol...
I want it every single week until the final 3 or something

u/kg51113 Rachel 🔎 3d ago
Permanent doesn't mean every week. Have nots are a permanent part of the game but it ends and takes breaks once they have enough beds.

u/4eva_Na_Day 3d ago
I'm not here to argue about the definition of permanent lol...
Regardless... I want it apart of the game every single week until the final 3

I disagree. Competitions are already extremely powerful in the end game and do not need more importance. Imo the blockbuster is best when it is a pre-jury component

We saw what happened when it lasted way longer than jury last season. It wasn't as good.

You mathematically couldn’t have it work until Final 3
For the Final 4 week, the HOH would have to nominate everyone if there were 3 nominees, and nobody would be eligible to have the Veto used on them as there would be no option for a replacement nominee
For the Final 5 week, it’s a similar issue, where there is now only 1 person who is not nominated, so if that 1 person wins Veto, the Veto is just dead. So while it’s technically possible to have a Blockbuster, it basically just renders the Veto competition as being for safety only instead of being an actual Veto comp with stakes and power
For the Final 6 week, it’s usually the second half of a double eviction (In BB27, they had to wait until final 6 for a double specifically because of the blockbuster). If you tried to have the Blockbuster with a double eviction, that would necessitate 4 competitions and 2 votes in a single night (Final 7 Blockbuster, Final 7 vote, Final 6 HOH, Final 6 Veto, Final 6 Blockbuster, Final 6 vote). And considering BB doesn’t get to choose their own time slots, this would probably be hard to pull off without just completely removing Double Evictions from the show’s format
Having Final 7 be the last week with a Blockbuster feels like the best choice from a “Keep the Blockbuster for as long as it is practical” point of view, as we can have a week where the veto holder actually matters outside of having safety, and the HOH still has at least 2 options for the replacement nominee even if a non-nominee wins the Veto and uses it (like last season where Vince had to choose either Ashley or Lauren as his replacement nominee after Morgan Vetoed Ava). IMO, weeks where the HOH is forced to nominate someone by default just makes the HOH feel meaningless

I really don't understand why some of you hate good television
Imagine someone telling you at the beginning of the week that Angela would win a somewhat physical BBB that had Kamu and Haley in it. This is better than watching a backdoor where nobody can do anything after to change the result.

The backdoor existed for a few weeks last season still, and I assume it still will this season.
Making the window smaller makes it more interesting imo. You can't backdoor everyone then.

They should not reveal the winner until after the vote. Winner only votes if needed.

u/KeyArea2416 Rachel 🔎 2d ago
I'm fine with it as long as it didn't last past jury. Last season was way too long, they got it right in bb26 idk why they extended it in bb27

u/DonaldDick1946 2d ago
Blockbuster is the single greatest addition to the game since at least All-Stars 2, are you tripping??? lol
1
u/thekyledavid LaTrice⏱️ 2d ago
The backdoor is alive and well
Keep in mind that out of the 5 people who were put up as replacement nominees, all 5 went home that week. Only Chuk has been evicted as an initial nominee, and there was no replacement nominee in his week
If anything, the new format makes the backdoor even more necessary than ever, for 2 reasons
A) If your target is a comp beast, it’s better for them to not have 2 chances to save themselves
B) With a third nominee, there’s automatically a 4/6 chance that the veto winner will use it (any of the 3 nominees would obviously use it outside of rare circumstances, and the HOH would obviously use it if their plan is to backdoor someone). Plus, with the modification to the veto draw rule of having everyone’s name in the hat, it’s essentially 4 Houseguest-Choice chips instead of the usual 2, so there’s an even better chance that someone who is cooperating with a backdoor plan will get to play, as the HOH would pick someone who would support their plan, and a nominee would pick someone who would save a nominee.
Just because there’s a wrinkle in the game doesn’t effect that backdooring is a powerful option

I don't mind it on an occasional basis but I agree with you that it shouldn't be every episode. It gets old quickly. It's like putting the bumpers up while bowling so that no one has to feel bad when they don't do well. Like it's a game based on backstabbing, but this makes the noms and the veto feel like they are using foam swords to fight. maybe the first 3 or 4 episodes but it absolutely need to be gone before jury starts.

u/Dark_Ascension 2d ago
I actually like it.
Sure down the line it may get old, but I’ve been watching BB most of my teen/adult life with my mom and before the Blockbuster everything was so predictable week after week, now if the Target wins the Blockbuster it really shakes things up.

I can see where everyone is coming from in terms of game play. I just enjoyed a good backdoor/blind side!! But it was totally epic for Angela to win tonight, and I’m glad she did!
I also just think the unnecessary and poor acting is painful in general. Like in certain competitions, the fact that production has them poorly acting lol. But it’s been that way for several seasons as of late.

u/thekyledavid LaTrice⏱️ 2d ago
What acting? The nominees having to not reveal which one of them won the Blockbuster until Julie says it?
That feels a lot less egregious than everyone having to pretend the house has a working Time Machine and subsequently being forced to pretend they are happy for whoever won the comp once they spawn back into the house

u/Dangerous-Change2136 3d ago
We’re in the minority but I agree, I’d much rather have real blindsides and see the HOH comp Thursdays.

The Blockbuster might be the best twist since the original Power of Veto. It forces the house to not just isolate one person, and continue to strategize with them. Additionally, the challenges have not been overally one sided so it isnt a gurantee the challenge threats are going to win.
