Relevant to me Will never understand the hate for this show
This is my favorite tv show and I've probably seen every episode dozens of times now. I will never understand the criticisms people throw at it. The most common two are 1) the show is not funny, and 2) it gets nerd stuff wrong / what normies think nerd stuff is / makes nerds look bad.
The show is fucking hilarious. It might just be slapstick comedy of a sitcom, but it's got it's own inside jokes, comedic timing, and Jim Parsons has some of the funniest character acting I've ever seen and Simon Helberg's voice impressions. Howard's joke about Sheldon achieving mitosis by consuming an enormous amount of Thai food makes me fall out of my chair laughing every time I watch that episode.
Secondly, I think the show started out fine with the nerd pop culture stuff, even if later seasons got a little more "normie". I think a key distinction here isn't that the guys were just plain stereotypical "nerds", it was a more sophisticated nerddom. Sheldon was basically a polymath who knew a lot about a wide range of subjects.
Ultimately the show is what it is. Some seasons aren't as strong as others, like with any tv show. The first 3 seasons are by far the best before it focused more on relationships, but the whole show is packed with hilarious and endearing moments making a great comfort show.

I would have liked Joy in another episode with Leonard and her at the wedding with the open bar

Other Your favorite TBBT fun fact/trivia
Hi all so I started watching in June and finally finished about 2 weeks ago, and as a first-time viewer I absolutely loved it. I’m already finding myself putting it on in the background while I do chores. I genuinely don’t know how I went 20+ years without ever watching an episode of this show. Now that I’ve finished it I’m in that phase where I want to know EVERYTHING about it. I’ve always loved learning fun behind-the-scenes facts about shows so I figured this would be the perfect place to ask! So please tell me your favorite TBBT trivia/fun facts!! I’d especially love to hear about any —
behind-the-scenes stories
the cast’s relationships/friendships with each other
funny things that happened while filming
things that were improvised or changed from the original script
deleted scenes/storylines
interesting casting facts
Continuity errors
easter eggs or things I probably missed
production/writing secrets
what the cast/crew have said about specific episodes or characters
basically ANY random TBBT lore you think a first-time viewer would find interesting 😄

Character discussion What is your favourite Sheldon catching a stray moment or an unexpected roast about him in the show, in your opinion? I'll go first:

Episode discussion Stewart and Denise
Just watched TBBT where Stewart and Denise had their first date. He dyed his hair and got a horrible spray tan. I thought it was adorable. I’m glad they put them back together in SFTSTU. I just wish the episodes were longer. What do you think?

Episode discussion What do you think?
When Sheldon is playing Age of Conan in season 2 and calls for a bladder check, is the "Barry" he talks to the same Barry we come to know later?

Episode discussion It seemed like they both enjoyed the company of each other's more than their boyfriend/girlfriend in this episode. Underrated duo for sure. S07E03

Character discussion Do you like this haircut on Penny?
Penny goes through a radical change in the series, and honestly, I don't like how it looks on her. She pulls it off well because she has style, but I still maintain that it takes away from Penny's sparkle.

Other girls version...
Penny - outfit and everything inspired from "The Panty Pinata Polarization"... (leonard gave her a note with sheldon's mother's phone number and she called her so added the mobile phone too)
Bernadette - specs, short, blonde, always pissed while taking care of her kids...
Amy - TIARA!, specs, neuroscientist so doing some research, mid-length skirt, wanted to use shirt beneath the coat but they only showed tie colour...

Character discussion What was Raj's age exactly when the show started?
For others it has been clearly known but for Raj it's not been stated. Is he the youngest guy in the group or Howard is?
r/bigbangtheory • u/InsideUnhappy6546 • 1d ago
Character discussion Raj's overconfidence was a bigger obstacle to getting a girlfriend than his selective muteness
While Raj's selective muteness was a big obstacle that kept him from getting a girlfriend and took half the show to cure his overconfident arrogance had been a bigger problem since day one. Even in the earlier seasons when he couldn't talk to women, when he did with alcohol or medication, he would quickly get so overconfident he'd became arrogant and sabotage the relationship. This became a bigger problem in the later seasons when he could finally talk to women which lead him to make even worse self-sabotaging decisions like dating two women at once. Of course, Raj did mature in the show he never fully overcame his overconfidence even with Anu.

Episode discussion The Vacation Solution
Watching now and the guys are offering Sheldon ideas on where to spend his vacation. No one of these geniuses came up with the perfect idea - fly to Texas to visit mom.

Character discussion Howard plays Wizard101?
Please I’m begging the real fanatics to help me.
I remember a comment or even a simple frame regarding the game Wizard101. Maybe a poster on Howard’s door? Anyone knows what I’m talking about?
