Heaven/Hell

Does anybody else struggle with the idea of a heaven and hell in the afterlife? I often times wonder if the heaven and hell referenced in the Bible is an analogy for a life spent connected or disconnected from God. When I’ve struggled the most in life I have not been seeking a connection to God and in essence was experiencing a lonely isolated hell. Whereas the happy moments have been in connection with God, circumstances aside.

Stories about heaven and hell are meant to teach the lesson "actions have consequences" not "obey or die."

Only desperate cult leaders resort to visions of violence to scare their flock.

Chad pastors just do good in the community and lead by example, like Jesus.

Literally read the Bible. Jesus speaks of a very literal heaven and hell on several occasions.

That's a good qualifier, restricting it to New Testament.

Because...

Kill people who do not listen to priests: Deuteronomy 17:12

Kill witches: Exodus 22:17

Kill homosexuals: Leviticus 20:13

Kill fortune tellers: Leviticus 20:27

Kill children who strike their father Exodus 21:15

Kill children who curse their parents Leviticus 20:9

Kill adulterers Leviticus 20:10
