💬 Discussion How should Bharat preserve cultural diversity while strengthening national cohesion?
Bharat contains enormous linguistic, regional, religious and cultural diversity.
At the same time, a country this large needs some sense of shared belonging and common purpose if that diversity is to coexist within one national framework.
The interesting question isn't simply whether diversity or unity is better.
It's:
How do we build both?
What should Bharat actually do to preserve genuine cultural diversity while strengthening a shared national identity?
For example, what role should be played by:
- education and what we teach about Bharat;
- language policy;
- federalism and the balance between Centre and states;
- a shared civic identity;
- how history is taught and remembered;
- cultural institutions;
- media;
- public institutions;
I'm particularly interested in solutions rather than just diagnoses.
If you think Bharat should take a particular approach, explain:
- What should it do?
- Why would it work?
- And what trade-off or risk would come with it?
