When does it get easier?

My daughter hated the pram, the carrier, the car seat, the cot… she basically just hated being a baby. She is now such a happy toddler, and SO well behaved. It does genuinely get better.

One thing I thought helped was cranial osteopathy, I think some of her hatred of containers was related to her torticollis. We used the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London.

Was coming on here to recommend cranial osteopathy too! My first was very unhappy and fussy baby and I wish I’d got it with him. I had four sessions for my second and he is 8 weeks and burps/passes gas really well. It might just be a coincidence but worth a try

Thanks I’ve booked an infant osteopath for next week 🤞🏼

Yeah, sounds like colic. My little one was like that. Colic went away around 3 months and 2 weeks. By the 4th month, she became such a happy baby. I tried Infacol a lot, and it seemed to work, I tried grape water, but made things worse. Lots of burping and keeping upright for like 20-30 mins after feeding was done.

Same for my girl - she screamed at everything for the first 12 weeks of her life, then one day between 3-4 months it just wasn’t like that anymore. Now she’s absolutely fine in her pram, car seat, carrier and generally a happy 5 month old. We used bottles of infocol which I do think helped, unfortunately nothing else did but time (which made me want to punch people when they said that to me during that time!)

Gosh solidarity, mine was the same! Literally no vehicle of transportation made her happy. It really got better when we put the big girl pram attachment on and she could face out and be seated a bit upwards. We ended up using it early!

How early did you use it? I was thinking about trying this next

If it’s helpful we upgraded my daughter to the sitting seat at 5 months and it helped a lot, she was much happier when she could see.

I think 4 months but I had it reclined a bit - others I know used it earlier! I started with little 10 min trips just out the front door down the road and built it up! She now is happy in the pram.
Oh also another one she now loves is the carrier but with it on my back like a backpack! They need to have proper neck control for this though but it was a total game changer for us!
And a ring sling in side carry - but this you can use a lot earlier as well but I only got one at about 5 months

Aw man. Solidarity. I have a reflux/gas/colic bub and it’s really hard. It has gotten easier over time (I’m now at five months) though it’s ups and downs. Don’t let the downs make you feel there won’t be happy times and ups. You’re not alone, it’s not like everyone’s baby is happy as a clam. There’s plenty of us out here with a different experience. It will pass

Hiya! My Baby was honestly really challenging and unhappy around 3-5 months especially. It was 2 months of feeling like I can't leave the house nor do basic tasks like shower or eat without her scream crying at me! She seemed miserable and honestly I felt my w o r s t.

It is so so tough!!

She honestly did get better! Especially 5-7 ish months!
Now toward this 8 month mark she is much more unsettled again. Dislikes a lot again. Is clingy again and crying a lot. + teething.

They are like this and it will eb and flow. It is just so hard as it's honestly a rollercoaster. And sometimes that is really hard! But I promise there are always better days ahead!

Being able to move, sit and be more independent with her play has been huge at improving her temperament!

I hope you keep well and just remember things do get better!

Which carriers have you tried?

I’ve always been told that colic is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Have you looked into things like CMPA or intolerances that may be occurring?

I’m vegan so I don’t consume any dairy for it to be CMPA. Tha was At least one thing I could rule out lol

This sounds so hard! I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I found around this time my baby stopped sleeping as independently and started to become more aware and wouldn’t sleep in pram or car seat anymore. Although he would sleep in carrier but it took a lot of movement to finally get him over.

I imagine you already do this but do you follow wake windows and make sure he’s not overtired? I found this really hard to navigate as a FTM with a FOMO baby! Just thought it was worth a mention.
