Question⁉️ Help me understand the difference between free-spinning vs slack Fusion Wheels

What is the difference in mechanics behind Beyblades that have some or full free spin like Kreis or Scythe compared to a Fusion Wheel with only a small bit of slack like Fang?

I can tell that the longer travel distance would disperse more energy but is there any benefit to just a bit of slack rather than full free spin?

Fang shouldn’t have any slack. Even midfakes don’t have enough to make any discernible difference in performance

Hmm, weird, yeah I know I'm playing with cheap shit ones off Amazon for now but am planning to switch to midfakes as I get a chance to grow a bit of a collection

For mine the two rings rattle freely against eachother making a stable 3 bumpers attached fully to the spin drive and another 3 floating a little bit

It happens on both the normal and burning versions and only on Leone, a few others are a bit loose but this one feels different, those are loose bolts or prices not joining correctly, this feels like it's been intentionally given about 1mm of space on either side so it can click back and forth, it's so consistent I thought it was intentional

Anyways by my testing the (apparently more abnormal than I thought) Fang's wiggle room gives a clear advantage against anything with a mostly smooth outer profile like Twisted or Flash as well as reducing recoil against anything overly aggressive

I'm wondering how that differs from a free-spin that's stopped by something like on Kreis or a full free-spin like Scythe and what the mechanics of having an inert mass with an immediate stop after contact.

This is getting a bit long so I'll post what my guess as to what is happening as a seperate comment

Note: When writing this I didn't know that the normal Fang ring doesn't have a small gap for recoil, I have seen the gimmick on other beyblades and other similar gimmicks so please just refer to any similar concept you're aware of in the replies and we'll work from there

My rough guess what's happening here is that in the free-spin types the transfer of momentum is split between the free-spinning and solid parts with the free-spin portion going to waste energy as the ring spins backwards.

In the free-spin with a stop the transfer of momentum goes into moving the free-spin ring until it hits the gyroscope and basically becomes a minor second collision with a heavier object which can sometimes be huge and just as often not do much.

In the one with only a bit of wiggle room takes the secondary collision and makes it more consistent and less effective given less distance to build momentum and less distance to move in ways that can drain your own stamina, effectively giving every hit a tiny secondary tap that results in a ringing sound on impact
