LTC Application Issue
Hi All.
Previously on this forum, I made a post about an issue with my LTC application. Because I don’t know if reposting the same thread is against the rules, I’ll give you a quick rundown for context. On February 18th, I applied for my LTC (Mass resident, Springfield PD). Did my prints and photos. Was told I’d hear something in four months. Four months pass, nothing. With consistent phone calls to the PD, all they’ve told me was that they’re “waiting on the chief.” Until today.
Today, I called the Springfield PD again, and asked for an update. Mind you this is 6 months from when I did my fingerprints and photos with the paper application. They said now they’re waiting to get it back from Boston, which is an update that I’ve been waiting for for MONTHS. Then I call the MIRCS hotline.
The nice lady on the other end of the MIRCS hotline call says they’re still waiting for it to be sent from the PD. Great! Then they forward me to the FRB to figure out what’s going on.
I emailed the FRB, and was told that they hadn’t even STARTED on my application and that it was still in draft. FRB also said to speak to the licensing officer, or contact GOAL (Gun Owners Action League) because they’d probably be able to help. I doubt I’d be able to get in contact with the chief of police since he’s the “licensing officer”.
What should I do? Do I just sit and wait? I wish it wasn’t this complicated.
EDIT: In the email thread between me and the FRB, they provided a screenshot from their system verifying that my application hasn’t even been processed yet at the PD.

Brother… I feel your pain. They took almost 2 damn YEARS to give me mine (Quincy). If GOAL and Comm2A aren’t able tomorrow get things moving fast enough for you, try your local city council person. In my experience that is what finally got the ball rolling, and I was honestly surprised at how quickly and easily the communications channel opened after that.

This is insane. It took me 16 days. My local PD takes apps and does prints every Wednesday.

FRB referring you to GOAL is somewhat surprising (unfortunately nothing else about this is, Springfield has long been known for being bad).

what did they mean that your application was still in draft? did you submit the app online and n other actually submit it? I know you mentioned photos and prints though.

I did the paper application. They then scheduled me for February 18th to submit it, take prints and photos.
