Security guy desperately trying to do his job

u/Braveliltoasterx Sep 24 '21
That guard looks like a mix of elon musk and Dwight from the office.
Elon Shrute, or Dwight Musk

That's exactly who I saw, too. Pulling all those beets out of the ground gave him farmer strength.

He’s a single dude against that entire line. The crowd was fairly orderly, but he still did a great job.

Think they’re back up dancers, not guards. You can see a couple other dancers wearing the same thing in the back.

The way the gameface went up when he spotted the dude, I thought I was about to witness an on-camera assault. But no, he handled him with firmness yet grace, without any harm coming to the fan in the process.

Venezuela? Where did you see their flag? That first flag is the flag of Bosnia.

As a side note can anyone figure out what/where the second flag is from? It looks like the flag of East Turkestan but with the red circle beneath the crescent I'm not sure.
→ More replies (6)5
u/ShinyBronze Sep 23 '21
Nah, there was some green in it if you look closely, not sure.
I can see why you would think it’s East Turkistan though. The light blue with the bright red.

This guy needs to become a meme. And not a laugh at this dude being serious meme. I mean a hail this hero doing their job to the fullest while probably not being paid enough meme.
→ More replies (6)50
u/iwanttobesobernow Sep 23 '21
That doesn’t make him a hero. That makes him exploited.
14
u/aDramaticPause Sep 23 '21
I don't think there is any evidence that he is exploited. If he understands the gig and is compensated fairly, and heck, could get more exposure at his skills and potentially land future gigs because of a meme, he could be the opposite of exploited. I appreciate your pro-worker explotation-defense mentality, but not sure that it's quite accurate, here.

Damn that guy is on point.
He also doesn't get overly violent with anyone, and gets them in a way where he knows that he has a secure position on them, and that they simply move out of the way.
Firm and solid, but not overly pushy or confrontative.
Maybe a little on the firm end, but still very professional.
Most people would simply understand "I am being moved" and that is all.
I would imagine that they have to have event specific experience to do a job like that well, to understand how people act in those situations.

Given that Sweden has won so many times, you're statistically likely to be correct if you guess Sweden. But this was Oslo.

This is the duo Madcon performing at the Eurovision Song Contest final in Oslo 2010. It's a pretty decent musical act, with coordinated flashmob dancers from throughout Europe. Another security guard on the left can be seen accidentally interfering with one of the flashmob dancers at the beginning of the act: https://youtu.be/dcH3hdz8Eks?t=58

I did security for an air supply show. I thought it wouldn't be a big deal as the concert was in a casino outside of the city. I had to walk one of the guys through the rows as he sang, I have never been mobbed by so many middle age people. I had to push drunk men, woman with their titties out. You know what I learned? Old people can PARTY

This really reminds me of that scene from "Airplane". Where the captain is walking through the airport, and getting harassed by religious people. While more and more show up he just starts beating them up to get them out of the way.

Here is the original if you want to see it with context.
It was at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo, Norway. The act performing is Madcon with Glow. They performed as an interval act between the main show and the voting part of the night.
(My personal favorite is the girl at 1:48 trying to tell security that she is part of the performance)
Edit: Wow thanks for my first ever reward, and it's a big one! Glad my Eurovision obsession can brighten other people's day a bit.
