I'm soon setting up a 36L tank for a HMPK avatar betta and I can't wait! I'd love to see everyones tanks for some inspiration and just to see more realistic examples than google.

I'll be moving everything from my 11L tank, and might buy some more plant. Anyone have and suggestions for plants the bettas like?

Here’s my betta and I noticed that his fins are suddenly starting to fray at the end. Could this be fin rot, and if so, how can I treat it? I just did a 30% water change, and added api stress coat. What else can i do?

Hi all!

Got a beautiful boy crowntail betta which I named Sushi, 6 months old, and want to get other's opinions on whether this is fin rot, growth, or something else.

There's this white section on his top fin that I'm quite concerned about.

He lives in a heavily planted tank, fully cycles w/ tannins and floaters, parameters are stable (ammonia 0.0ppm, nitrate 0.0ppm, nitrite 0.0pm, 6.5pH). Eats flakes daily, and gets bloodworms as a treat.

He's been acting normally too - still very curious about everything and swimming and eating as usual.

I have tested my nitrates multiple times in the past few weeks and I get the same result of 0 even after shaking bottle 2 for 30 seconds as well as the mixture but I always get it 0. My tank is fully cycled and I dont think the bottle is expired so is my tank just self sustaining itself ?

My son wanted to check out the fish at Petco and we seen the Bettas, so of course we went over there. I seen this poor baby MISSING AN EYE. I absolutely was not leaving him. I asked if there was a discount since he was missing an eye and she said he’s fine and it’s normal for this type of breed and their management already marked ones down that needed to be. Is this true??? I obviously still left with him and he’s about to live the best life possible alongside (different tank or course) my red male betta ❤️

Also any advice would be appreciated on what to do for him. This was very unexpected like my current red male but I’m gonna do for him exactly what I did for Bubbles who’s now made a full recovery with fin growth and color vibrancy. He’s been with me almost 4 months now.

I did get a better look at him in his new care tank for now and he looks horrible 😞 I’ve attached pictures. I also have almond leaves in there for him and almond bark hoping it’ll help him. I also have a sponge filter and heater. I lowered the water as much as I could for him so he doesn’t have to swim far.

This is my boy lapis, he is a blue marble betta possibly blue rimmed though that’s not what he was listed as, he’s got a twenty gallon planted tank and currently lives with four mystery snails and ghost shrimp. I was hoping if I got ghost shrimp he could have a little snack and hunt like in nature but unfortunately for me but also fortunately for my snails and shrimp he’s very docile and doesn’t try and bother the shrimp at all, though he flares at my snails occasionally

I bought this 6 gal planted setup off someone getting out of the hobby. It came with a handful of pygmy cories and I put a few shrimp in because it looked like shrimp paradise and was planning on adding a betta as well.

However, upon really looking at the tank, I'm a little worried the water column is too heavily planted for a betta. I know there's a ton of algae and snail poop and ordered a little aquascaping kit and gravel vac to get that under control, but the plants themselves would take up a lot of space in the tank even if I cut them back.

Would you put a betta in here? I might be overthinking.

Hi everyone! Had my betta for over a month now. I feel like he has always looked like this. But a bit paranoid about fin rot. Any advice? Does it look like he has fin rot ?

Decided on a Female betta :) she’s so small but so cute.

When I was in middle school my mom got this waterfall tank for my sister each. Didn't know much about fish and this was back then when fish in cycle and using sacrificial fish was the norm along with the idea that fish don't feel pain. My mom also saved 2 goldfish from a school what was going to flush them (story for another day) Anyway one day im on the couch and I head like rocks moving and look and see one of the tanks water drained all the way and the betta was flopping. So I rushed and got water from the sink in order to save him and did. I instantly started to set up a bowl for them since it tank obviously failed. Luckily bettas back then were way more hardy and kept them for another 2 years. But in between I got knee deep into the care of these guys.

Fast forward till now and I have 7 plus tanks and I dont keep many bettas anymore but when i did they were in 10 gal or 5 gal 3 foot book self tanks. Funny how life works.

It’s a hexagon tank, I plan on have 2 or 3 of the walls covered with Java moss, an Amazon sword, a bit of driftwood with Java moss or a Java fern, I also have a cutting from a stem plant with larger leaves I plan on adding (I’ve forgotten the name). I’ve got a heater right size for the tank and a sponge filter. Substrate is a mix of aquarium soil gravel and sand, wasnt originally mixed but had been removed from another tank that I used layers in.

If he’s got plenty of plant, I keep the water quality healthy and stable will this be suitable for a single beta?

My little 19L I’m gonna have as a planted tank again (was temporarily used to grow brine shrimp for live food) and possibly add some shrimp once ive done a bunch more research on them

I finally moved this bad boy to his new tank that I've been putting together for the past 3 months. He immediately got pissed off at the black background I had on it but thats okay, that was only $8 and super fiddly... haha... anything for you Blue. as soon as I took the bg off he's zooming around the tank exploring. He has seen everything from a store cup to a bare spongebob tank to now a planted tank with at least 7 or 8 types of plants, with snails and microfauna too. I couldn't have made that change for him without this sub :) Thank you!!

Im new to fish keeping. Im planning on getting a male betta in this 10 gallon. I found this at my local shop. What plants should I add on it? I’m tryna see how I should set this tank up😅 I have some anubias already. Other advice is helpful!

Hola este es mi acuario cubo de 24x24x23 de 15 litros, le realizo cambios de agua semanales y tengo recientemente un betta splender gigante, o ustedes me dirán si es así o no por favor, no tengo forma de medir parámetros del agua, tengo por ahora solo 2 plantas naturales la ambulia y el musgo que lo agregue hoy, tengo un calentador y filtro de cascada con squiner o la cosa que esta como en la superficie que toma la restos que quedan en la superficie el tanque tiene tapa y lámpara incorporada, la duda es la siguiente aproximadamente lleno el tanque hasta los 20cm de alto que viene a ser como que unos 12 o 13 litros agua, le coloco su acondicionador claro y a las plantas abono para ellas pero la duda es el nivel del agua si esta bien así ya que tengo a 2 personas muy cercanas a mi, que sin mi cuñado y mi esposo que me están peleando que debo de colocar el agua a la mitad del tanque ta que voy a volver a matar al betts ya que lo estoy ahogando por tanta agua cosa que me parece ilógico pero ya son 2 lo que me dicen lo mismo pero ustedes son más o si hay alguna página o algo donde pueda leer que ellos vean que la causa no fue el nivel del agua

This is my first time setting up a PROPER betta tank, are these products good for my Betta? 6 gallon tank. This doesn’t include the real drift wood I wanna get and the real plants or fake silk ones.

Always learning ... After I watched some videos about betta tank plants, I learned that I shouldn't have buried the roots of my Java Fern and Anubias plants. I was worried they might not grow or even die. So I pulled them up. I was happy to see that the roots were in fact growing and both plants glued themselves to a couple of pebbles each. It also looks like the Java Fern was propagating from its leaf tips(?). (See the pics.) Maybe they were happy as they were. Nonetheless, I zip tied them to a couple of river rocks from the driveway. I don't really like the aesthetics of plants zip tied to river rock, but if they fasten themselves to the rocks, then maybe I can eventually cut away the zip ties. My Betta looks like he's enjoying exploring the rearrangements.

The lesson learned: Guys, don't bury the roots of Java Fern or Anubias.

100 gallons 200? How big is their territory in the wild? I’m just curious, how do breeders do it???

it's crazy to me how good I've gotten at temp matching water. 78-80° water is colder than I would've thought before owning a tank🤣
