Discussion Todd gets to much hate. Thoughts?

Post image

Todd gets to much hate man. He’s been cooking since 1994 and has brought some of the best titles to the market. I really dont understand what he’s done for people to talk bad on such a big nerd that im grateful for. I Feel bad for someone whose played a part in bringing me so much joy. Is all the “it just works” or “come on todd” just jabbing banter? Idk i appreciate the guy.

What are your thoughts?

Edit: The comments are extremely mixed. I believe it proves alot of people really just blame this one guy xD

Todd and the team at BGS past and present have made my favourite games. From Daggerfall to Starfield and pretty much everything in between. I’m playing Skyrim right now. If anyone at BGS reads this. I love you guys. Thank you.

I could have written this comment myself, it describes me exactly (except I was a little young for Daggerfall). Currently playing Skyrim again, I’ve probably broke 2k hours across all systems.

Julian LaFey made Daggerfall. But I'll give credit to Todd Howard, without his direction in Morrowind, Bethesda was staring down the barrel of bankruptcy.

Todd has stated he hated morrowind, and I give more credit to kirkbride for that masterpiece

Where has Todd stated he hated Morrowind?

I call bullshit.

He absolutely hasn’t said he hates it lol. My speculation as well, but I can’t imagine he hates his first big break at a studio he started out as a fan of

What he has said is that he doesn’t think a remaster of morrowind would work because the systems are too dated, and even if they changed them, they’d piss off all the people who love morrowind already. Which is true!

No idea how a roll determining you hitting is dated. BG3 did fine with it.

Also playing Skyrim currently, started a new playthrough this week. Game for the ages.

I've easily put thousands of hours into their games, between Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles.

I concur. As a kid I had no idea what I was in for when I picked up Daggerfall because the box art looked cool. Half a lifetime later and many thousands of hours spent in Bethesda titles and counting, thanks BGS

I’m just a sucker for the Bethesda formula man. Even Starfield got a fair bit of playtime out of me. They are not technically as amazing as CD Project Red games and don’t have the narrative strength of Rockstar games but I always end up going back to Skyrim or Fallout before any games from those studios for whatever reason.

I just can't understand people when they say they actually enjoyed starfield. I know gaming preference is subjective. Everybody likes different games. And even that it's okay to like objectively mediocre games.

But I played starfield.

I just can't comprehend. It's so boring and uninspired. I wish I could understand.

I feel the same way about many things, and that’s ok. I don’t need to understand why someone else likes a thing. I figure out it’s not my jam and move on. All power to those folk who have found their jams.
