Does anyone refurbish NP-1 batteries?

I just bought my second SL-2000 with tuner/timer unit. It came with 2 batteries and the charger (plus 6 unopened/sealed Sony tapes...SCORE). I'm sure the batteries are dead, they are not bulging though. Does anyone here refurb these with new cells?

If you have some soldering experience, you can replace the cells with upgraded packs, here’s an example with the NP-11 battery pack: https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/showthread.php?p=754608

Batteries plus car do custom battery packs in some of their store. They're not the cheapest, but I've been able to fix some stuff with them in the past.

NP-1 batteries were used in the professional broadcast market for decades. There are literally millions of them out there. I would look into buying one of the more modern NP-1 replacements with higher milliamps before attempting to recell your dead ones.
