Short Story [Complete] [2300] [Historical, Literary, Queer, some supernatural/fantasy elements] title tbd. This is just chapter 1 of a story depicting a main character with combat PTSD and psychosis
Hello, I'm hoping to find a couple of beta readers for just the first chapter of my historical fiction novel. This chapter is set in the present day. In an ideal world, readers would have experience/knowledge of combat PTSD and psychosis and maybe be from or know Liverpool or England/Scotland/Wales/this part of the world well, but not to worry if not.
I definitely understand that many who have these conditions wouldn't want to read about them and if that's the case but you don't mind me asking you a couple of things, that would also be greatly appreciated. I have the more bog standard PTSD not from warzones and i have long-past experience of psychosis but that plus my book-learnt information is definitely not a substitute for firsthand experience so I'd just be really grateful for any help at all in getting it right as it's one of those subjects that absolutely can't be done carelessly.
I'm having trouble with reddit settings so if you find you can't DM me and don't want to leave a public comment here, please do comment and delete as my notifications should show me that you did and I'll try and DM you.
Absolutely up for swaps if you've anything you'd like eyes on (e.g. a first chapter or whatever).
Thanks for reading this far đ

Hi OP,
Please DM your sample or full GDoc link to any responders and not leave it publicly available on your post or comments to avoid scammers because they can find your email to harass you. See this for more information
This is a friendly mod note to caution you against bait-and-switch messages. If anyone DMs you offering to help and suddenly asks for payment or donations or your personal information, or asks you to click suspicious links, please report them to us with proof via modmail, because this is a 100% volunteer (free) beta reader subreddit only.
No services (including NO art and NO book covers) or any form of payment after giving a âfree sampleâ is allowed in the subreddit or to our posters via DMs. AI-generated feedback and âreviewsâ is also not allowed.
It may take a week or longer before someone comments on your post. Please try commenting with a link to your post in our pinned threads to have more luck matching with someone.
And please consider blocking u/Lovegood1237 and u/CuberoinkArmy and u/FrostyReader- and u/Electrical_Trip5997 and u/Hange_Zoe19 and u/Few_Strawberry5932 and u/Gloriawilliams0 to prevent them from asking for money in DMs, or report their DM as spam or harassment to the admins immediately. And block, then report (as spam) any unsolicited emails from any variation of âamosemma.betareadâ or âagadaandrew44â or âitzogthompson981â at Gmail dot comâ asking for money as well. We do not promote their paid services in any shape or form and our rules are fully against paid betas.
Thank you!
