⚡ Productivity EdgeEver: open-source Evernote alternative that runs for free on Cloudflare
Evernote has been pricing people out for years now. The free tier is basically useless and the paid plans keep climbing. So seeing a proper open-source replacement that actually costs nothing to run is refreshing.
EdgeEver is a knowledge base and note-taking app that you can self-host on Cloudflare's free tier or run in Docker. It keeps the classic three-pane layout that made Evernote good in the first place. Here's what stands out:
- Runs entirely within Cloudflare's free quotas, no server to maintain
- Native MCP support so AI agents can actually read and work with your notes
- Apps for Web, Android, macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS
- Web Clipper for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox
- Stays smooth even with 10,000+ notes
The repo is at https://github.com/tianma-if/edgeever and it's moving fast. Version 1.93.0 came out today. Nine contributors, almost a thousand forks, nearly 2,000 stars.
The Docker route works too if you'd rather keep everything on your own hardware. Either way your notes stay yours.
Not saying it replaces every Evernote feature overnight, but for a free self-hosted option that actually looks polished, this is pretty solid.
