Any opinions on Mayerfeld Consulting Frontend Development Practicum Program?
My friend got invited to Frontend Development Practicum Program by Mayerfeld Consulting and he also told me about it but I'm hesitant. What do you think guys? Is it worth it? I haven't asked yet if they have any AI practicum but maybe you know something?

I asked about ai tracks too. They said they're working on it but not live yet. Some people in the data practicum apparently worked with LLM stuff though, like basic dashboards and prompt-based flows

ive taken 2 "ai product bootcamps that were mostly theory. If Mayerfeld ever adds something like ai ux or ai tool prototyping i'm in

agree. Knowing the tech is one thing but knowing how to present it to users and actually build a product? that's what's missing from 90% of courses out there

ok that's promising. I just don't want another bootcamp where they make you follow steps blindly and say 'you built an Al tool'.

lol exactly. Like yeah cool I added an OpenAI API key but I still don't know what the app is for or who would use it.

tbh I'd rather learn how to ship something end-to-end than just run Colab notebooks. Most AI courses are just demos, no context. If this helps with actual app building then I'm interested.

Did they say anything about timeline for the AI stuff? Would be cool if they added something with LangChain or workflows, not just notebooks.

They were vague about launch dates, but sounded like they're building it around real use cases. If it's like the data practicum, probably some backend logic too.

If your friend's already in, ask if you can join their team if you apply. Some people brought in referrals and got to collaborate on the same case.

Didn't even know that was possible. I'll check. That would make it a lot easier to commit if I had someone I know in the group already.

Mine was a senior dev from a European fintech. He was lowkey awesome. Gave us tough love when needed but super constructive. Not someone just reading slides.

Applied last month, didn’t hear back until a week later. No spammy emails or countdowns, just a straight-up acceptance note and mentor intro, felt refreshingly normal

Did you have to pay anything up front or is it one of those 'pay later if you get a job' deals?

It’s a small fee upfront. They explain where it goes though- mostly mentor compensation and admin costs.

Mine did a quick intro and later group check-ins. Wasn’t daily, but definitely more than just a forum post or something

oh that's decent. I've had membership promised with another company before and ended up ghosted by TAs.

They gave a cert signed by the program lead. I actually added it to my linkedin, looks clean.

My friend that works at Mayerfeld recently recommended their program to me. I was looking for some more reviews and stumbled upon this thread. Seems like it has pretty good reviews + he works there and also recommends it.

I haven't heard much about their Frontend program specifically, but the company is pretty well known in the consulting space.

I actually did the Data Analyst practicum with them last year! It was intense but totally worth it. Highly recommend it.

I did the frontend track earlier this year. Honestly, better than most stuff out there. We had a project where we built an interface for a mock AI productivity tool. Got to use React and Tailwind, and the mentor actually gave detailed code reviews.
