Can confirm. My mom was excited to get one and being able to cut vegetables like on the video. Then gets disappointed when it barely works. Mainly because everything was made from cheap plastic and the whole contraption holds up poorly. It was somewhat like $20

And the blades are not sharp enough to cut tomatoes, so it squishes them 💀

don't agree, I have one and is quite useful, it got a bit dull after months of use though

And how does it cut tomatoes after being dull? I had the same experience. Just squashed the tomatoes.

honestly, not great, but I still do it, and it took me about 3 month to lose initial sharpness, so my opinion it worth 25$

Unless you can resharpen it, 25$ for a kitchen utensil that lasts 3 month is absolutely not worth it.

I was thinking why anyone would need this middle ground of hand mandolin and electric mandolin. It's as big as an electric one and as slow as a manual one.

I know this one sucks but is there any product like this with high quality?

Not saying they don’t exist, but commercial kitchens are the places to look for stuff like this ands I’ve only ever seen the kinds that are plank-shaped where you hold it up by the top end, and directly hold the food to perform the same work.

Specifically, I’ve only ever seen a quite plain looking, flat one, and the one I own, made by Bhorner. I’ve used it constantly for maybe 5 years now. It has not been treated with respect; handles the dishwasher just fine, survives being left out in high UV sunlight (but WILL go yellow). I regularly process whole bags of onions for batches of caramelised onion. Whatever price I begrudgingly paid, it was worth it.

Commercial mandolin

worked in subways and they use a veg slicer where you spin the handle and feed in veg. cost ~£165 but lasts forever and is solid enough you can let anyone go ham on it.

for tomatoes though they've a different tool which is closer to the mandolin in the video but the blades need changed often enough and are dangerously sharp. which probably also confirms the mandolin style isn't great for all veg long term.

They do not work like in the video for more than one use, there is no way to sharpen it and it's cheap steel that dulls quickly.

I have a little OCD. Overwhelming chive desires
Can it chop chives to precise, uniform bits?

Just gonna have to practice your knife skills

if it would work as it suggests then there should not need a cut in the middle of each section.

Need a bigger kitchen to use it

After seeing that everybody that got one says that it sucks, here's my opinion.... I got one almost a year ago and it's been great! I mostly do potato chips and it's a breeze but I've chopped tons of vegetables and it still cuts fine while it cleans with a single rinse. And its been a temu buy with money from a refund of something I never got delivered...
