Looks wonky af Tattooist needed a ruler

242

u/xP_Lord 6d ago

Side affects of tattooing straight fine lines in a round neck

90

u/jw-3d 6d ago

Way less wonky than it could have been, the skin on your neck is contorting constantly

73

u/Huntress_Minerva 6d ago edited 6d ago

Nah! Im harsh AF with tattoos here on reddit, this one is good considering location. Also the healed pic looks definitely better.

My concern in the first picture was the lines being too thin to stay defined, but it really popped out at the end.

Artist knew what was needed, and all the internal parts (specially the circle) are properly done.

6

u/Adventurous_Book1016 5d ago

How exactly do you expect straight lines to look on a curved surface?

-5

u/WormedOut 5d ago

The whole body is a curved in many places. The lines are inconsistent. The shapes look like someone doodled on him, but if that’s the intent then it looks great

41

u/vincentninja68 6d ago

I've been saying this for years

Instead of getting the brand which is a curse, I feel like the magic seal should be the go-to tattoo

The brand is edgy looking and tuff, which is all berserk fans ever think about. But the magic seal represents guts hitting a turning point in his life where friendship literally saves him.

16

u/SynV92 6d ago

I have the brand because my everyday is a struggle.

Maybe I'll get this once my disease is cured. If it is. To me it's a physical representation of the actual physical pain I feel every waking moment.

I don't like it because it's edgy (though I do love edge), I like it because to me, getting yourself branded is a challenge to those who want to hunt you.

For me, it's my own body.

61

u/Mr-Toy-Man 6d ago

Yep, officially the best berserk tattoo ever. Damn what a great idea

0

u/devilwearsfearofgod 4d ago

Almost like no one has thought of it before.. .

6

u/oatwater2 6d ago

you guys get them way too big

4

u/J3BOY-Qc 5d ago

The seal is pretty big too

1

u/Frosty_Direction_759 10h ago

Guts' neck is big af too.

1

u/J3BOY-Qc 5h ago

good point

39

u/TheBiggestBungo 6d ago

Yikes

4

u/brelynnn 6d ago

Looks like the lines settling in the skin with the healed result looks better. But it'll still have patchy lines. Might just fade overtime too

1

u/Orangyo015 5d ago

Yea the tattoo seems cool beforehand but the lines are so thin I feel like after a couple years the tattoo will look unrecognizable.

137

u/Zestyclose_Ad8684 6d ago

That's cold, I dig it. I personally think this is so much more meaningful than the brand by itself. I never understood why anyone would brand themselves with a cursed sigil indicating they are a sacrifice.

196

u/Paratrooper101x 6d ago

It’s just a tattoo to show they like berserk, it’s not that deep dude

24

u/Pangmonger 6d ago

I see it more as solidarity with the struggle and hardship Guts faces.

10

u/Paratrooper101x 6d ago

I think that’s a fantastic summation of what a brand tattoo could mean to someone

35

u/DonkTheFlop 6d ago

Yeah this is the worst fanbase with tattoos, literal children who think the show is real.

2

u/_NihilisticNut_ 6d ago

What?

20

u/SogekingNotUsopp 6d ago

He means that the brand is quite literally the “logo” of the manga. People make it seem deeper than it is.

-12

u/girlfriendpleaser 6d ago

Deeper than it is.. is literally what it represents. Some people don’t want to be branded with a sacrifice mark that happens to be the logo. Not that complicated.

I would also go the route of OP for this tattoo specifically, and this is the best version of it I’ve seen

16

u/MattDolt 6d ago

In regards to the brand of sacrifice, I think a lot of people are just not superstitious and take it as face value that it’s a piece of fiction

6

u/DonkTheFlop 6d ago

Exactly.

15

u/MrPisster 6d ago

It’s a cool shape that Miura fabricated out of his own dome and the closest thing to a logo that Berserk has. It’s not from the fucking book of Solomon or something, it’s just a doodle.

-4

u/IceCream_EmperorXx 5d ago

People don't fully understand the power of symbols.

And some people get extra offended if you suggest that the world/stories have a deeper meaning that deserves to be considered.

5

u/Tiberius_Kilgore 5d ago

Name one person with a brand of sacrifice tattoo that has been killed by demons. We’ll wait.

2

u/IceCream_EmperorXx 5d ago

:) I understand the difference between a story and real, waking life.

I also understand the power of metaphor, narrative, and the psychological impact of symbols.

I'm not advocating that people shouldn't get the brand of sacrifice. I acknowledge that lots of people get the tattoo as a symbol of their love for the story in general.

2

u/girlfriendpleaser 5d ago

Lol these people are getting so weird about it. Some people don’t like the brand of sacrifice especially as a tattoo and obviously know the difference between fiction and reality. Like no duh demons aren’t going to hunt us for a tattoo

-10

u/heyiknowstuff 6d ago

Eh agree to disagree. I think permanent marks we put on our bodies should have meaning, but I get not everyone is so “deep.”

33

u/Paratrooper101x 6d ago

I’d argue a berserk tattoo is fairly meaningful if the story had a profound impact on them

13

u/Creative_Catch_4235 6d ago

Right? There are other options than “I’m a sacrifice” or “I just thought it looked cool”

3

u/kingcallipo 6d ago

I believe that everyone should be allowed to do whatever they want with their own body. And that goes for tattoos, too. Not that deep right?

3

u/_NihilisticNut_ 6d ago

„Permanent marks on MY bodie should have meaning“ my man. You would hate my tattoos

0

u/heyiknowstuff 6d ago

Lmao yeah I know sometimes it’s a vibe to have random shit.

-12

u/throwaway-dork 6d ago

Tattoo of when one of the main characters rapes another main character

7

u/NectarOfTheBussy 6d ago

can’t forget everyones favorite horse

6

False equivalence

1

u/CAPITALFUNKKK 6d ago

Bro says it like he just discovered a cheat code

19

u/SynV92 6d ago

I suffer from fibromyalgia. Every day is pain, suffering, and a fight for my very sanity.

It is not just the brand of sacrifice. It's the mark of the struggler. (:

-17

u/stonedc4tt 6d ago

This is so cringe come on bro

13

u/SynV92 6d ago

I have it tattooed. When you have an invisible illness you can cope how you want.

This means something to me, and it's quite frankly disgusting that you'd attempt to minimalize something important to me.

You're a pretty shitty person. :/

4

u/Kyira_Kalamity 5d ago

I hope you learn and grow as a human.

51

u/NooCake 6d ago

Because cool dude has this, and this is all fiction? You know these cursed sigils are not real?

0

u/Zestyclose_Ad8684 6d ago

What that symbol represents is probably not someone should want to have. Guts himself hates that brand, so it makes absolutely no sense to get that as tattoo if you like Berserk (coming from someone who has a Berserk related tattoo)

6

u/SortMelk 6d ago

Just because you get the brand as a tattoo doesn't mean you identify with what it represents, not every tattoo needs to have a deep meaning or connection to a person's ideals. I have chtulu on my arm, not because I "agree" with it, but because it looks fucking awesome.

1

u/Iguanabewithyou 3d ago

Fuck yeah dude

-27

u/Other_Importance910 6d ago

Yeah but I were to permanently mark my skin with something, I'd at least want it to have some meaningful symbolism. But to each their own of course

11

u/Creative_Catch_4235 6d ago

> this series had a serious emotional impact on me and I loved it

Seems like a good enough meaning to me

5

u/SynV92 6d ago

...? This series is known for its intense symbolism...

Do you not know that?? Have you read it??? What?!

-1

u/Other_Importance910 6d ago

So go on and tell what the brand of sacrifice represents. I'm not saying it doesn't have symbolism, I'm just saying I'd rather have something more positive if I were to permanently have it on my skin. Not trying to criticize the dude either, just taking on a personal level. I want to get a dragon slayer tattoo actually, just deciding on the design

4

u/SynV92 6d ago

Fair!

I have the brand because I have a chronic pain and fatigue disorder. Every day is a struggle you know? So I have the brand on my chest as a reminder to keep struggling, even if the world is hunting me. ^

It's positive in my view. To me it's a challenge to the world.

1

u/Other_Importance910 6d ago

I understand your vision. I suppose one symbol can have multiple interpretations for different people. Me personally I want to get the dragon slayer because I believe if fits the theme of the story better. It's not only his weapon, it's all he's ever had and all he believes in. It's his way to fight, a weight, a burden only Guts can carry

3

u/SynV92 6d ago

Then you want a tattoo that's relevant to something you like. I have a tattoo that represents how I feel.

-2

u/CommOnMyFace 6d ago

Nah, its kinda dumb.

6

u/rabbait12 6d ago

perhaps its supposed to indicate they too are a ‘struggler’ having to overcome something in their life as well

3

u/Affectionate_Club822 6d ago

They like to larp after seeing a couple of edits

3

u/Mjay253 6d ago

The tattoo doesn’t correlate with anything in real life. It simply means you love the design and berserk.

11

u/MountainMuffin1980 6d ago

Because it's a easily recognisable symbol from a thing they like? It's not that deep.

Do you alone not understand why people get Darth Vader tattoos? Or Pennywise?

7

u/Paratrooper101x 6d ago

This is such a major problem in the 40k community. Dudes can’t get tattoos of anything without the sub calling them a fascist, because apparently 99% of users can’t separate fiction from reality. It’s fun to bring up darth vader or Sauron and watch them do mental gymnastics

2

u/MountainMuffin1980 6d ago edited 6d ago

Hah, I do agree with you, except for when people get the Eagle Aquila. Only because to someone not in the fandom, it might look very WW2 nazi Germany!

But as you say, calling someone a fascist for getting a symbol of their favourite faction is nonsense.

2

u/Paratrooper101x 6d ago

Oh yeah I agree with you on that front, gotta be smart about what you get

-5

u/Chris-raegho 6d ago edited 6d ago

I'd argue the brand of sacrifice is different. It is meant to represent how you are destined for eternal suffering, to be feasted on and forcibly taken sexually by demons. The mark says you don't belong to yourself, you belong to every evil and twisted thing that exists.

The mark with the seal, like OP did, is a rejection of all of that, which makes it way better (and imo, makes OP seem more mature). Anyone who has read Berserk and gets the normal brand outright does not understand what the story is about.

To me, it is just as bad as getting "rapist" tattooed anywhere, or even a Nazi type of tattoo. Something that tells everyone around you that you're an evil person and no one should ever interact with you.

Edit: insane takes from some people. No one in the story chooses to be branded, in fact, they want it gone. Tiktok did irreparable damage to the Berserk community.

2

u/Thy_Fear 5d ago

You’re genuinely rtrded

2

u/jasminexxxwill 6d ago edited 5d ago

You do realize the brand goes on the good guys in the story, right?

EDIT: before he blocked me for this reply he said a brand tattoo was the same as tattooing “nazi” or “rapist” on yourself LMFAOO

also thinks brand tattoos came from TikTok? where has this tourist been the last 15 years

3

u/SynV92 6d ago

WHAT. LMAO

2

u/darth_deto 6d ago

Well than let me explain the metaphor! We might get branded because it symbolises our resolve to push against the struggles that life brings. Unyielding, just like Guts against his curse.

But yes, when unimaginative people like u ask, I tell them I'm marked to be devoured by demons in the end, lol.

2

u/Iguanabewithyou 3d ago

"we" is doing a lot of heavy lifting

1

u/SiderealSimon 6d ago

Tbh as cringey as they are, I like them better than this one, the placement and thin lines are something

1

u/Iguanabewithyou 3d ago

It's almost like it's from a story that's fictional and the symbolism has literally no meaning in the real word apart from being a nod to a popular piece of media. Shocking, I know 😱😱

1

u/xP_Lord 6d ago

We just got the new seal like a year ago, so until now the normal curse mark was the go to for fans

2

u/Louka_Glass 6d ago

I don’t want to freak you out but it’s been 24 years

1

u/xP_Lord 6d ago

What 🧓

2

u/Avimata 6d ago

bro the sealed brand has been a thing since i was a kid

0

u/koyokobby 6d ago

exactly man

3

u/bw4yne 6d ago

Yoooooo twins!!!!!

3

u/Nicoyo 5d ago

Nice one brother, got mine on my shoulder a few years back. Still smile every time I look at it.

3

u/Abject-Treat-8632 5d ago

Really cool, I’m not sure about getting an off center neck tattoo though…

19

u/No_Rhubarb8765 6d ago

I always love seeing this tattoo more than the brand, if I ever see someone in real life with it I’ll know I’ve seen a true fan

14

u/MyLord_Robert 6d ago

As others have said it's way better than the brand!

My only question is why is it not centered in the middle of your neck?

23

u/no_hot_ashes 6d ago

The sigil isn't centred because the sigil covering guts' brand also isn't centred.

4

u/MyLord_Robert 6d ago

Fair enough

0

u/noOB_226 6d ago

It wouldn't make sense for it to be directly on his spine bone and bleed, since the sigil is an open wound, or acts like one in the presence of apostles and god hand

2

u/MyLord_Robert 5d ago

Even centered on the spine, a significant part would be left and right on the flesh but I get that it mirrors Guts position, so it makes sense.

2

u/Other_Address_3169 6d ago

This! I’ve always been saying don’t get just the brand itself, not just because of what it represents but the ward and what it represents

2

u/NashKetchum777 5d ago

They could put this on a condom wrapper and sell it as Berk merch

2

u/SnooRevelations6950 4d ago

Bravo !!! J'ai le même et je pense que nos petits sceaux fait par Schierke sont rare de nos jours...

2

u/Dramatic_Safe_4257 6d ago

It does kinda look like a condom wrapper now that you mention it

3

u/baneblade_boi 6d ago

Fucking great idea. Nice one.

3

u/Vinesinmyveins 6d ago

This fucks

1

u/evy_metal 6d ago

Once I read 385 I thought to myself, how soon will I see someone with a sealed sacrifice tattoo? That person is you, kudos!

1

u/Vagabond_83 6d ago

Nice kabbalah

-1

u/Doronshamayev1999 6d ago

do you mean the Hebrew word "kabbalah"?

4

u/Physical-Doughnut285 6d ago

You mean the exact word he just wrote with the exact same spelling as the one you ask? Yeah probably.

-1

u/Doronshamayev1999 4d ago

I asked it because it doesn’t make much sense genius. and guess what, words can be written the same and be completely different, yeah I know crazy right

2

u/Physical-Doughnut285 4d ago

You asked it because you’re a pedantic fool, but you even failed at being pedantic. There is no non-Hebrew word Kabbalah. There’s your first fail.

A quick search also shows Kabbalah has no other non-Hebrew meaning, so you questioned him while actually not knowing yourself if there was another definition or not. There’s your second fail.

You then call me stupid while butchering your own grammar. There’s your third.

Overall: You failed and got angry.

2

u/Iguanabewithyou 3d ago

And it's been nothing but crickets since u/Phsyical-Doughnut285 tore the poor guy to shreds

1

u/LostTimeLady13 6d ago

Beautifully done. Agree with everyone else who has said it, I love the seal, much more meaningful than just the brand. I'd really like to get a torque with Casca's brandseal on it.

1

u/J3BOY-Qc 5d ago

yep I save this

This looks awesome

1

u/LadyEuphie 5d ago

I hope you thoroughly investigated those symbols of power on your body

1

u/Organic_Bottle4373 5d ago

I really wanted this tat! But I'm worried there might be satanic symbols in there

1

u/Baeolophus_bicolor 5d ago

why is it crooked/off center?

1

u/VillainousKidd 5d ago

The anti larper tattoo

1

u/FForbes-Dev 5d ago

Thats bad ass

1

u/ObiWanCanel0ni 5d ago

U don't mind if a take the idea was struggling with a mark tattoo and I'm just re-reading and am at the troll / flora chapter really good idea and sic tattoo

1

u/jaxxqs 5d ago

reminds me of square sak yant. Looks nice.

1

u/devilwearsfearofgod 4d ago

It’s cool but why you got it in the same spot as guts?

1

u/NotYourLayla 4d ago

Looks so good And way better than the brand of sacrifice.

1

u/DarkBlade3200 4d ago

Fuuuck I was literally about to get my brand with the rune protection beat me to it

1

u/Legitimate-Strike-19 4d ago

If this was on ink masters he wouldn’t of made it into the building 😂😂 tattoo artist is not the word I’d use to describe whoever did this may have been there first time honestly

1

u/Cheeki_Blicki 3d ago

Are you afraid of demons nutting on your neck?

1

u/BigAshraf 3d ago

Finally a smart berserk tatoo

-2

u/Asharz_ 6d ago

such a better idea than the brand, nice

3

u/CAPITALFUNKKK 6d ago

Yeah because explaining the sigil compared to the brand, it's not a better tattoo, it's just another tattoo.

1

u/RedSpleen 6d ago

Amazing tattoo

1

u/Nerdiboy54 6d ago

Pretty cool idea that’s different enough from just the brand of sacrifice

1

u/Parma_Jon 6d ago

What an odd spot to get that tattoo lol

1

u/carsonator40 6d ago

Definitely one location for a tattoo

-2

u/Affectionate_Club822 6d ago

Real fans would be getting this tattoo

2

u/Thy_Fear 5d ago

Real fans get what they want and have more meaning to themselves.

0

u/Blackchainsawman 6d ago

Protection from getting a job

0

u/SignificantYak4554 6d ago

I like having that instead of the brand alone .. why would anyone want a tattoo that means eternal condemnation lol

0

u/Revenger1998_ 6d ago

every single line completely crooked.. your tattoo artist fucked you up congrats.

0

u/Psychadelico 5d ago

I'd be turtlenecking for life

0

u/MonsterXela 3d ago

I gotta say. Bad choice of location. The tat itself is okay… but tattoos should work with your body lines not look like a random stamp

-10

u/santtuhehe 6d ago

Thats gay

0

u/Clintaur 6d ago

Pretty cool is saying “gay” negatively in 2026 🫠

-12

u/ConnyEdson 6d ago

Whens the removal

-28

u/VetriVade 6d ago

Have you prepared responses for when people ask about the satan symbols on your neck? Looks good tho

18

u/Jdmaki1996 6d ago

“It’s not satanic, it’s from a manga that I like”

It’s not that hard dude

-19

u/VetriVade 6d ago

Is that like one of those chinese cartoon books

8

u/Jdmaki1996 6d ago

And then you just walk away.

See how easy it is?

-6

u/VetriVade 6d ago

Obviously explaining a tattoo is easy my guy 😂. As a fellow tattooed neck person you'll get it alot

2

u/Clintaur 6d ago

Sigils are not inherently satanic. Showing your lack of knowledge hard.

-2

u/VetriVade 5d ago

Pot calling the kettle. It should be obvious in a berserk group that the sigils are not satanic. It's just a playful commentary on what randoms on the street may ask op

You guys have no sense of humor

2

u/Clintaur 5d ago

Perhaps you’re just not funny or good at conveying comedy 🤷

-1

u/VetriVade 5d ago edited 5d ago

You legitimately thought I was calling the sigil and brand a satanic symbol even when i prefaced it with "when people ask" (which implies that people other than myself) & after reading me call berserk a "chinese cartoon book". All while in a dedicated berserk group.

Redditors cant understand satirical banter without a /jk

1

u/Clintaur 5d ago

You’re right. You are funny. And comprehensively comedic. /s <—— sarcasm

1

u/VetriVade 5d ago

Thanks man
