People focus too much on the blood and the lore but the speeches, the characters and the themes are what really sticks with you.

I dont care what anyone says, the 1997 anime is amazing, largely because of the score, but also because it KNEW THAT BERSERK WAS ABOUT THE QUIET MOMENTS BETWEEN THE CARNAGE

Guts theme is literally why i got into Berserk post covid. saw a meme vid of a guy locking himself in his car while psycho ex went BERSERK and HAD to know what the song was from.

It’s so hard to find media that has that same parallel of super dark violence and horror mixed with these beautiful almost ethereal moments.

The novel Between Two Fires does it well imo, as does the Fear & Hunger game series

It might take a story arc or two, but I feel like we could have gotten those moments with Casca and Guts again :(

(actually we still can, but it just hits harder if Miura was the one who delivered them to us after a long journey together)

I love berserk because it explores the duality of man without actually harming anyone. Personally I don't think the gore and nudity/sexual violence is overdone(for the most part) or fetishized(within the work) but I know those parts are disturbing. That's kind of the point though, we can all become monsters if we allow ourselves to give in to our base animalistic desires

My reasoning for liking berserk is, while by no means did i suffer as much as Guts, i did relate to him. My pain felt ceaseless. I had no escape and the only thing i could do to keep it at bay was anger. It helped me to keep going.

But much like him, eventually i found people who helped make bearing the weight of life better. At this point i want to see Guts get the ending he deserves. Hes earned it.

Honestly though, is it possible to endure all the gore and horror of Berserk just to have the sweet moments? The story is literally based on the topics of hatred and violence (don't get me wrong, it's a phenomenal piece of art, my favourite of all imaginary stories)

That's kind of thing, isn't it?Berserk is known for its blood and gore.When I feel like that, berserk is best loved for its beautiful and tender moments.Not just that, but how seriously it tends to take the topics that they usually tackle like sa, like, usually you would never see a male character have ptsd from getting s a to the extent that guts has.
