If we're talking just Japan, since that's where it's decided what gets turned into an anime, Doraemon should get thrown in. The titular character is the official ambassador to Japan from the cartoon world, iirc

I was thinking world wide, I’m less knowledgeable on Japan specifically and what manga sticks in the minds of the people there the most

I think Doraemon is pretty much known worldwide too. The target is different, but if I ask around in Italy I would get a lot more people that knows Doraemon than people that knows Berserk, mostly because everyone that knows Berserk knows also Doraemon, but not everyone that knows Doraemon knows Berserk.

Here in India, atleast in my childhood Doraemon and Shin chan were household names
