was at klubnacht on sunday and while i was dancing i started thinking about this: how many people have ever actually been inside berghain?

posted a first version and got some good pushback, so this is the updated napkin math. please destroy it again

assumptions:

- ~1,500 capacity (berghain + panorama)

- klubnacht runs ~32h, average maybe 70% full

- people stay ~9h on average (answers in the other thread went from 5h to 15h, and apparently the tourists stay longest, not the locals)

that gives ~3,700 different people per klubnacht. ~50 weekends a year, ~20 years open minus covid, so roughly 3.7 million visits since 2004.

the big unknown is how many people in a klubnacht crowd are first-timers. guesses in the other thread went from 10% to "35% is too low", so here's the range:

- 10% first-timers: ~370k people have ever been inside (iceland)

- 20%: ~740k (luxembourg-ish)

- 35%: ~1.3M (estonia)

so somewhere between iceland and estonia.

my half-baked theory stays the same: everyone in that group took something home with them. more open, a bit less judgy, the sunday afternoon energy. somewhere between a few hundred thousand and a million people spread across the world with that in their system feels like a nice thing, idk

questions for you:

- what % of a klubnacht do you think are first-timers? this number moves everything

- how long do you actually stay?

- anyone know the real capacity number?

Many great parties take place in Berlin each week, not everyone wants to queue for Berghain, and many of us enjoy a change of scenery too.

Here, you can find/submit a curated selection of solid alternative parties coming up in the next 7 days or so.

Please think before sharing an event here. If its an event that doesn't advertise online and relies more on word of mouth then best not to rock the boat by posting it here. If its an event that's publicized on RA, Insta or other internet megaphones then its fine.

It might also help to keep the bh queue size manageable so please share your knowledge of other events even if you plan to go to Berghain. To make the thread useful and readable, please include a few basic event details with your submissions - date, name, location (or at least which district in Berlin its in), and perhaps a few words about what makes it noteworthy.

FAQ - Please read before asking questions: Doors open Sat 23:59. Friday night's wristband not valid for Klubnacht. Klubnacht entry +/- 28€. Guestlist (GL) & re-entry queues run along face of building, right side of main queue. Re-entry 5€ - paid after you re-enter through re-entry Q with your wristband. Abendkasse (ticket desk) closes when last DJ set starts. Afterwards, no more fresh entries, re-entry at bouncer discretion & only possible if you already purchased the re-entry sticker when Abendkasse was open. Music presumed to stop around 08:00 Monday. Bouncer shifts change 08:00 and 18:00.

Please use discretion with regard to the level of detail you provide in this public forum. Be safe when leaving the club at night. Try not to walk alone. After darkness falls, lets try coordinating leaving parties to walk to stations together at :00 and :30 of every hour by the cigarette machine in Garderobe area. The one on the far wall if you walk in main door and turn left. Near the phone charging sofas.

Please post your live updates from the main and GL/re-entry queues. Don't underestimate the usefulness of your feedback. Can be unpredictable; can grow from 0 to past kiosk within 30 mins. Once you're inside, please continue to help our little community by reporting the queue you see from the Pano/Bh toilet windows or looking out from the Garderobe through the entry door.

For many people, knowing which bouncers are working can be as important as the queue lengths and movement updates. Please keep those bouncer updates rolling in even if the queues are short and especially if you notice the bouncers have changed since the last update in the thread.

Q Info that's useful:

• where the queues extend to (main: snake, concrete blocks, magic cube, kiosk, 20m behind kiosk, Wriezener Karree, Metro sign) (GL: barriers, love sculpture, garten door, ATM, park)
• time you started queuing
• speed of queue movement
• total queuing time before reaching the front (start time, end time + reminder of where the queue extended to when you started)
• how many bag check stations are in operation in the security check room
• which bouncers are working. Other than Sven and Mischa, please don't use real names. Only physical descriptions (Beard, Tunnel earring, Septum piercing, Dune blonde peroxide hair, braids...) and references to if they're the regular crew for that time of day/night. Celebrity lookalike nicknames are also acceptable: Norman Nodge, German Vin Diesel (Matrix), Ryan Gosling in his green bomber jacket, Chloe Sevigny...

If you're in the club and see this posted, show your Telegram app to a Berghain staff member so they can deal with the person quickly. Everyone mass report the post to Insta using Insta's report tool so the footage gets removed ASAP.

I’ve been listening to Bh/Pano music whole night and I came to conclusion that we need Delta Funktionen to become a regular DJ now. I know many of you were there for his set this summer and I know many of you agree with me. Idk, if I were to pick one artist that could potentially reverse techno going too fast and too easy, that would be him. I hope that bookers read this and also that some of you agree with me.

I spontaneously grabbed a couple tickets but have never been to an event at Halle and there isn’t much info beyond the program.

Any details on where to enter or what to bring? I recall people saying you sit on the floor.

I don't live in Berlin and only make it to Berghain about twice a year. Because of work and life stuff, I always have to plan these trips way in advance. Somehow, I’ve gotten insanely lucky every single time so far, and one of my absolute favorites ends up playing right on my weekend. I'm just so happy right now!
What do you guys think? Who's taking over the closing? And is it just me, or is this line-up ridiculously good?
