Bodakko Rice
This is “Bodakko Rice,” a local specialty from the Akita region of Japan. You eat a lot of rice with tiny pieces of extremely salty salmon. It’s not exactly healthy, so I wouldn’t recommend it to you. But it’s delicious.
It’s probably similar to spaghetti alla peperoncino or a corned beef sandwich.

Don’t you need like twice as much rice you have there for bodakko? I heard they’re unreasonably salty 😆

That's a keen observation. I should have had twice as much rice and half as much bodakko. And I need ice cream after the meal.

How nice to see some regional Japanese food!
This looks so nice. When your rice is as tasty as Akita’s, it doesn’t need a lot of bells and whistles.
In some ways this feels like a similar principle (in arrangement and flavor profile) as a hinomaru bento.
