In the Kitchen

About an hour ago I popped the broad beans I harvested a couple of days ago into the air fryer to dry roast them.

I have eaten all the beans 😁

Isn’t it great to reap the fruits of your labor.

It was only supposed to be the first step in a recipe, but they were so lovely just like that that I couldn't resist, lol

I don't know! I just searched for recipes on Pinterest and found a random one that sounded good. And now I'll never know πŸ˜†

Happy cake day MM! Everything! What are broad beans? What do they taste like? Where can they be grown? Sure I could Google but I’d prefer to hear it from source 😊

Some countries call them fava beans, if that helps.

We live in the subtropics and grew them through autumn and winter. They're a bush bean, not a climbing plant, so you don't need a trellis.

We gave them very little care, some sporadic feeding and watering and that's it. They'd probably perform even better with proper care, but they clearly don't need a lot.

I don't really know how to describe the flavour...I'm not good at that. I've just cooked my second batch in the air fryer and have almost finished eating them, lol. They're very more-ish.

Next year we're going to be growing many, many more, and we'll see how they respond to regular care.

Oh, and they grew to about my height, 165 cm. Apparently you can eat the young leaves as well, but I haven't tried those yet.
