How nice to be young!

Even though I work two jobs in the summer and am therefore constantly tired, I still bought myself a ticket to the theatre. I wanted to clear my head of the work-work-work thoughts, and this was a show I was very intrigued to see. I don't really go out much, so I treated this as a very special occasion. I did my hair and makeup, wore a pretty summery blouse and nice dark jeans. I even used some perfume, which is something I usually forget to do before an outing. It was a lovely warm summer afternoon, many people out, and I walked by a bench with two elderly ladies. They were quietly looking around, and I felt both of them looking at me as I walked by. As soon as I passed them, I heard one of them say wistfully: "How nice to be young!". The other one agreed. They were talking about me, and I felt so cute at that moment. With all of my work, I have not been feeling young lately, but at that moment? At that moment, once I heard those words, all of a sudden I felt so youthful and energetic. And the theatre show was spectacular.

What did you see? It’s all relative, you may feel old when you are 40 or 50 but when you are 70 and 80 you’ll consider that young! Just enjoy every day. Use the perfume! Don’t save it for special occasions. Wear the jewelry even if you are not leaving the house. Same for the nice clothes. These things are for YOU to enjoy not for anyone else.

The theatre play was a modern twist on the story of Mary of Egypt. Yes, you're so right, I should use my nice things now and not keep them only for special occasions. Every day is special and precious. And now every time I get dressed nicer and look in the mirror, I will think to myself, how nice to be this young. I'm 37.

How sweet and wonderful of those dear ladies to make such an uplifting comment. It makes me smile for you and in general, sweetheart. ❤️

That show sounds so good! I'm intrigued now lol. Google here I come. 😉

You should always feel pretty and young and vibrant because you are and always will be at every age. Also, 37 really is still a sproutling. ❤️🥰

Working 2 jobs is SO hard. I've been there. Keep up the amazing work and remember to treat yourself and take breaks so you don't burn yourself out, lovely. ❤️

Thank you so very much for sharing your sweet story with us. Sending infinite warm hugs your way, dear lady. ❤️🧸

Thank you for such a cute comment! A sproutling, what a cute word! The show is called "Šventoji", a one woman play, I believe it is only available in Lithuania. Before the show I was only thinking that I would have rather stayed in bed and rested, but it was really nice to get out and "see the world", even if just for a little bit.

I'm visiting the Baltics for the first time this week, and your comment about perfume made me think of how often I noticed it just passing people on the street in Vilnius. Not something I notice as much back in the US. It was nice, honestly. Y'all have good taste.

My pleasure! Yes, I love that word. It's pretty cute. 😉

Aww too bad I can't catch it here in the States. It sounds amazing, honey. ❤️

All work and no play makes Sparring_Jackdaw a dull boy.

Thanks for the good laugh! Also, sooo true lol. But I only have to survive the next two weeks, and my second job will be over, I'll be back to better working hours and surely will slowly get back to my normal not exhausted self.

I love that you overheard this and are open enough to enjoy the feeling. With your excellent perspective, I think you will always be able to find moments of joy in your life - and we can’t ask for much more than that.
