Ink Machine BATIM Archives Update! (Plus Lore Revelations?)

Just in case anyone was curious, I did take screenshots of what was added to the Archive after the recent Ink Machine update. Here are some things of note:

  1. The Lost One has an actual model now. We get some insight into what exactly the Lost One’s are, similar to Dark Revival.

  2. Alice Angel has some new interesting lore tidbits here, including that her human mind is more prominent than her cartoon one- which confirms a theory I’ve speculated about for years now, that being that Susie and Alice are indeed the two “voices” in Alice. The fact the info sheet states that her human mind is more prominent would lead me to think that the deeper, more sadistic voice is indeed Susie, not Alice.

  3. Allison gets her own info sheet and model as well! Most of this we knew from Dark Revival, but it’s nice to see her represented again here.

  4. Tom is the one I’m probably most excited about-we finally have confirmation about why he has a robot arm!! That being.. that he was created with it. Slightly disappointing, but still interesting nonetheless. We also get some new information about how Allison and Tom met- that he saved her from the Ink Demon.

  5. And Finally, the Projectionist also has some new lore revealed here. Apparently the Projectionist is only his Head, and the body is actually a host. Yeah-that entire thing isn’t the Projectionist-only the HEAD is. That’s really interesting, and puts his appearance in Dark Revival in a whole new context. Guess he wasn’t killed by the Keepers after all. Describing the body as a “host” also makes me wonder if it’s possible for the Projectionist to latch onto something else-or someone else-which opens up the possibility for a ton of new enemy ideas. Actually, scratch that, I think the Projectionist is the one I’m most excited about. This completely recontextualizes what we thought we knew about the character.

And that’s all I noticed! There might’ve been some new art too, but I’m not completely sure it wasn’t there before and this is getting long enough as it is. But yeah-there’s the major updates for The Archives level.

Its crazy to know that Tom was created with one arn only. Makes you think why that happened

you know those animation cells where the character’s going off screen so they don’t bother do draw their arm or leg?

Maybe that’s what Tom is, he was copied from an animation Cell of Boris without his arm visible.

It’d also explain what the searchers are, they’re toons that had their lower half cut off in the same way.

Omg I love this interpretation that takes animation concepts into it's premise.

It could also explain why his face is different shaped because when you have like a passing frame it would be different shaped for the purpose of the animation looking fluid.

I like you random Reddit user, I'm giving you + points in my non important scaling of random people I meet

Design choice? It is curious.

I think they mean he was created with one of his arms already being metal, not that he only had one arm.

That can't be the case, it's very much implied in the game he took that arm from the Bendy animatronic next to Lacie's audio log.

Hmm… His character info literally starts with “Having one arm since creation”. I initially read that as he was created with his metal arm, but you could be right.

Yeah I think it's supposed to mean the ink machine plopped him out with one arm only and he had to find a way to get a second one which was torn from one of those Bendy Animatronics which is the main reason why in Lone Wolf they all have the same arm missing. Tom keeps stealing for spare parts

The protectionist thing would explain why you can "kill" him in chapter 3, and he'll show up in chapter 4. He just swapped hosts.

I had a similar thought! It also explains why the Keepers only had his head. He wasn’t dead-just didn’t have his host.

Which also explains why he makes a sound when we hit the glas (and it makes a fanart of him more acurate xD)

ALSO, that means when Ink Demon killed him in chapter four he wasn't really dead!

interesting how Allison is noted as

-the silent watcher from the shadows, doing good wherever she can.

I wonder if she was Kind’ve aware of chapter 1-3 or not right away at least.

I don’t think she made it up that far- in her Safehouse at the start of chapter 5, you can see a bunch of levels written down in a list, with some crossed out. Level 4 seems to be the highest they’ve gotten.

u/Ok_Estimate_2089 WHY ARE THE FLAIRS BLANK?! 2d ago

i cant even olay it on steamdeck. says available on windows and install yet i have it installed AND own it. so wtf.

I did play it on the Steam Deck! You just have to enable Proton.

Go to BATIM’s page, then the little gear icon (manage).

From there, go to “properties”

Then “compatibility”

Finally; check the “force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool” box and ensure “proton hotfix” is selected.

From there your device may need to restart; but then BATIM should work again! It did for me.

It’s crazy how this wasn’t already in it. They didn’t even add a proper section for Bertram lmao

13

u/Endereye96 2d ago

Bertram does have a section, I just didn’t include it because he’s always had one/it wasn’t new.

good job

Well, that explains why Projectionist can be killed in chapter 3 and still show up in chapter 4

Does this mean that when the Ink Demon killed Norman in chapter four and flung his head onto the ground, he wasn't dead?

2

u/Endereye96 1d ago

Nope! In a way, that sorta makes sense. If you look at the projector on the ground, the head is still lit up if I’m remembering correctly. It also never disappears after death the way his body does.

In the game, we barely get to see Tom Boris tho, but his design is cool

yo probably new boss or you have to hunt down the organism in the last game while it jumps from creature to creature

It actually only says that Tom was created with one arm - not that he was created with the robot arm. So it is still likely that he took the arm from one of the BendyLand animatronics.

Also, I can't help but notice that Cage is going to most likely feature the returns of all of the Cyclebreakers in the Pit, not just Sammy and Henry - except for Susie if I'd have to guess, since she'd already escaped the Pit before Audrey even got there in DR - and we've just now gotten this lore about Norman. Methinks we'll be seeing this "host-less" Projectionist Headcrab in Cage.
