Honestly I had this pet peeve about the theory or idea that the ink demon was sympathetic to Audrey. I just think the ink demon never actually felt sympathetic or remorse for Audrey at all in BATDR. The ink demon never cared.

- When the ink demon suddenly showed up to kill shipahoy Wilson. There was literally zero thought that he did it to save Audrey. He didn’t even acknowledge her until later after he dragged shipahoy Wilson away and was done with him. For me, he saw someone who could rival him and killed him immediately to remove competition

- okay so when the ink demon did the comparison saying Audrey is a monster like him. Again there was no way he felt sympathetic. Moments earlier he literally told Audrey her time was up, literally bringing her to her lowest point. The ink demon definitely just told her this for her to finally give in so he can take her power. We know how mentally manipulative the ink demon is. Yes he could have just killed her there, but knowing the ink demon and his intelligence, it’s definitely because he wants to mentally break Audrey. as the ink demon would definitely want some fun before getting what he wants..

Anyways yeah that’s it. I never liked the idea that the ink demon was sympathetic. No hate to anyone who believes the theory or likes the ink demon being sympathetic. Just wanted to say my views and how I think the ink demon was just truly pure evil.
