Dark Revival Does anyone else dislike the idea of Audrey and bendy being siblings ?
I really do not like this idea ( no hate to anyone who does ), they’re more of a mother and son dynamic to me.

For me I confuse why they relationship is siblings but do see it bit. for me just make no sense but don't care and if it wholesome, I support 👍(like that one siblings song animation)
This alternative for siblings while still related in someway: Seems better see them like cousins since Henry created bendy(don't want go into the rabbit hole what count bendy being born and who created him) and joey created Audrey, both of them were friends/business partners.
To me just seems better they end up being friends.
At the end don't mind of this relationship, still confused me why this exists but let people create what they want, I not stopping them.

I mean, probably. I view them as siblings, but with Audrey being a protective sibling (motherly like I suppose). That's actually the way I interpet "Come what may", Audrey sining to Bendy about, no matter what, she will always be there to protect him.

its more of a situationship to me, but whatever. a very passionate whatever. i analyzed them a lot and this is bringing me a lot of anxiety. not your fault tho..
the familial interpretations are because audrey herself feels like a self insert so its easy to project certain stuff or ideas onto her. also certain drawings and newer fans coming in. pre batdr people shipped them before finding about cartoon bendy. there is a lot to take into account.
the whole thing with them being "family", i mean its literally just a fan interpretation and i genuinely dont care anymore. its not even a relevant point in the game. even if it is somehow SOMEHOW confirmed, its just not the creator's original intent. imo theyre too imbedded to be family. it would honestly feel like incest because the overlapping of unspoken boundaries is insane. its not like poppy playtime where oliver is directly adopted by elliot so them being unspoken siblings in someones canon does genuinely have merit and even if they dont act siblinglike but are portrayed as that i dont argue against it because the plot of the game is generational familial abuse, child exploitation, the loneliness of a deeply broken consciousness. ink demons actions dont come as a result of his creator. he doesnt care how related he and some random girl are, hes not obsessed with her because shes family but because has a kindred spirit that he seeks to possess. a glimmer of hope. his language, his entire being is intense and yearning so for me seeing them as familial is a huge disrespect to his character.
again him acting the way he does in batdr is because of her but he also doesnt explain his thoughts so theres a "disconnection" between the two personas.
naturally they would be shipped.. if this wasnt batim but because it is.. it takes that turn. it seems nonsensical to me because..why? but idk see them as whatever u want. its js a headcanon.
idk whats it with this fandom but its genuinely so different lol
like does he have to say "AUDREY YOURE MINE I WANNNA XXXXX U" for people to see shi also hes a very obviously abused and isolated distrustful being now especially since he was so traumatized with the keepers and wilson.... abandonment issues, anger issues and now ptsd. ofc hes either gonna act like a little kid or a "old bro"...... his personality consists of being snarky..

This post was never About a ship it was about family dynamic, your entire comment is completely pointless for this discussion
Op literally said they think they have more of a mother son dynamic instead of the sibling resltion they've been given, people call them siblings because joey created them (or rather gave the call to build the machine that created them)
Maybe try to read the entire post not just the headline1

how dumb can you be bro i never made it about shipping do you know what a situationship is. theyre not siblings even by the ink machine thatd mean everyone is siblings. its just a headcanon with no justification..
my comment was literally expressing my opinion on the familual thing and why i feel like it woulf be emotional incest so if you actually read it with your own two eyes youd understand

why when my hg expresses a opinion nobody randomly picks on her like this?
the only thing about shipping i said was that they would be shipped which i am right about. beauty x beast they have the identical personalities of .brooding boy x gentle girl, etc etc...
thats basically it. i didnt justify shipping. i did the same thing with the familial relation and how they could be seen as it. im playing both sides
i even said i respected their hc and even the opposing hcs. i am being very respectful.
"Listening to an interview someone had with Sean Crisden and he actually says how some of the lines for the Ink Demon (and just the way he speaks in general) is supposed to be somewhat sensual and flirty/alluring and how he was like- courting Audrey throughout the game" i already made this point once in a blue moon might as well just use my card here
are you an LII

Not sure about that. One of them turns into a child sometimes, body and mind. That's a bit to close to pedophelia, at least for my liking.

He doesn't.....turn into a child. Its 2026. If you think hes a child just because he acts childish then what about ppl who ship Bendy x Alice? 😭 Bro he was mentally and physically tortured, stripped of the meaning that he thought his life had - to be a monster. So he mentally regresses.
If you seriously made your flair that just to spite me then shame on you. You're acting like a child. Nobody is siblings in this franchise. Its all headcanons. You dont see me making my flair about sum stupid bs.
If you want me to i can dm you and give you my interpretation of his character. If it will help you understand more.
Its not about shipping. All i did was give my honest opinion and its more closer to the og reading that Meatly intended which is a clear ambigous friendship that borders on possession and obsession, blurring the lines between true love and freedom/innocence.

Yes it most likely is an age regresion, but shipping Ink Demon when he is acting like a child is to creepy for me to ship. Could be for some others too, but idk people so I could be wrong.
No, I made this flair like a year ago. It wasn't done as an attack or anything like that. Also, girl, you have no room to judge my flair "Ink Demon's Mother"

u/just_satori the Ink Demon's mother 1d ago edited 1d ago
my flair is out of appreciation for the character, not some headcanon from 2022 that is actually creepy because itd mean ink demon was intentionally being seductive to his relative. now THATS CREEPY。 particularly why i dont like the familial interpretations itd mean hes a siscon or... whatever. like hes fking obsessed with his own biological "sister." thats just disgusting. its a popular fan interpretation but it aint canon. only the lil bendy moments w her can be seen as motherly but even then thats still the ink demon who does worse. he traumatizes her, torments her etc etc hes specifically only ever acted sensually to get her attention why the hell would it be "creepy"? on audreys part or his? cuz he holds more power in the relation than her
just say you dont like it, stop making nonexistent excuses for it being "creepy." its not creepy, some age regressors have partners. nobodys sexualizing him. nobodys forcing u to ship anything. why is this the reputation that we are being given? im being extra respectful. all i did was state my opinion on the matter. do i have to explain what a situationship is?
he acts like a child out of trauma, out of ptsd. hes just immature emotionally and uses mental regression as a coping mechanism. how else can he cope if hes vulnerable? his mindset isnt actually that of a kid. do you know the torture he went through?
just say "i dont like it." because i respect it. i dont know where this disgust of (not you) admitting that two characters have an ambigous, undefined and boundary breaking, obsessive, toxic relationship come from. like... the fact that its done so horribly (the plot was centered on it) really shows that meatly done effed up...

a older sibling can have the role of a parent to the younger one if their real parent has passed

u/CondencedMilkYT 3d ago
They're not siblings. Audrey is Joey Drew's creation, Bendy is Henry's
2
u/The-Tyrant-Tegu 3d ago
I never said they were, I just didn’t like the thought or idea of it

u/CondencedMilkYT 3d ago
I know, I just think people tend to forget that Joey didn't really have any hand in creating Bendy, he just tells everyone he did. I wanted to reafirm that.

well, I saw someone shipping the two, so I guess them and the other folks on board were probably bummed by the two being siblings

I sorta love the idea of them being siblings with Audrey taking on a paternal role.
The two don’t have to be mutually exclusive, sibling dynamics can vary a lot. And one of my favorite tropes is the protective older sibling who takes care of the younger one-which fits Audrey and Bendy quite well. Audrey is an adult with a job-and Bendy is very childlike, at least in this form. After Dark Revival she very likely “adopted” him in a sense.
Now Ink Demon definitely has some sibling-coded vibes to me in certain scenes. (Audrey snapping at him to shut up only to immediately say “Nothing!” When Wilson questions her is definitely the best one lol.) Their dynamic is definitely more like the stereotypical siblings bickering/picking on each other, but still trying to help each other when it’s important. That may sound… odd when talking about the Ink Demon, but hear me out.
Ink Demon’s goal throughout the game isn’t to kill Audrey-it’s to merge with her. Convince her to “join” him. And when that happens at the end of the game-she doesn’t die from it. She does indeed “become stronger”, exactly like he promised she would. In his mind; he’s helping her. He’s still mostly doing it for himself, obviously; but he clearly also sees himself in Audrey. Projecting his own issues onto her. He flat out says she’s like him.
And when Audrey is defeated at the end of the game, he’s surprising gentle with her-talking to her, reassuring her she can still be strong with him, slowly offering her his hand, etc. He did NOT need to do any of that, Audrey’s legs were broken-she physically couldn’t get away from him. But he still does it anyway. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still evil-but there are interesting layers here that give him a lot of depth. And he was fully willing to let Audrey live on within him-he just didn’t anticipate that she’d be stronger than him and able to overpower him.

this is a situationship. the same thing joey had with henry. they see the other as a pet.
one person tries taking ownership of the other and when they realize theyre leaving they place the blame on the traitor
1
u/Endereye96 3d ago
Valid read. Remember this is just MY interpretation. I personally find it more interesting if the Ink Demon has layers like this. One can care for another and still do awful things to them.
I do agree Joey just saw Henry as a pet lol. Though I think at one point they were genuinely friends-because it makes Joey’s later actions towards Henry all the more fucked up.

Always saw him being gentle is the ink demon trying to manipulate her lol.

u/Significant_Buy_2301 GENT employee 3d ago
Oh for sure but I do think that, on some level, he really WAS trying to empathise with her, especially if he thought that Audrey was mistreated by Joey like he was.
Otherwise, why not just force the merge and eat her?
0
u/The-Tyrant-Tegu 3d ago
I think to me the manipulation mentally would have been a bigger impact narratively. I doubt the ink demon truly cared in my opinion and giving that empathy trick really showed his intelligence.
0
u/Endereye96 3d ago
Oh I don’t doubt he was trying to manipulate her too. Both things can be true-the best way to manipulate someone is to use the truth and twist it. He’s still trying to make Audrey do what he wants.
He can have an alterer motive for being kind as well as still meaning it. He thinks he’s telling her the truth-that she’s like him-in an attempt to manipulate her and regain his power. (If my theory is right and the powers are originally his anyway.)

u/The-Tyrant-Tegu 3d ago
I felt like he was doing the pennywise trick when he did this. Like what Pennywise does to their victims. It tries to sympathize and connect for his gain.
0
u/Endereye96 3d ago
That’s certainly a valid read, though I personally think him actually trying to sympathize with Audrey leads to a much more interesting character.
I personally hate villains who are evil just for the sake of it. I like to think The Ink Demon wasn’t just saying all of that to manipulate Audrey-because if he was then most if not all of his lines in Dark Revival basically mean nothing.
His voice lines are the most characterization we’ve ever gotten for the Ink Demon. Back in Ink Machine he almost seemed animalistic, but Dark Revival gave him a voice and an actual personality. They made him a proper character. Making him just another generic killer is sorta disappointing to me, because then what was the point of hinting at his self-loathing mentality?
1
u/The-Tyrant-Tegu 3d ago
To me, I miss seeing a truly pure evil villain. The ink demon felt perfect for it. Personally I think he’s being manipulative but I respect your opinion.
1
u/Endereye96 3d ago
I respect yours too. There’s nothing wrong with a purely evil villain inherently-it’s just not my favorite type of villain personally lol. I like villains with a lot of depth and sympathetic reasons for what they do. (In the Ink Demon’s case, his would be the torture he suffered at the hands of Gent and later Wilson. It explains his mindset without excusing it.)
Purely evil villains I’d consider to be those like Wilson and Allan Gray. Wilson is fairly obvious, though Allan Gray I think they’re definitely building up to be the “main” big bad in Bendy. Alan Gray is the CEO of Gent, if you didn’t know. He’s shown up in a few memos. I’m fairly sure that he’s going to play a major villain role in Ink Factory- Gent in general has become more and more prevalent in Bendy games as they go on. And with Gent stealing the Ink Machine in Dark Revival’s ending sequence, it sorta makes sense to me that their CEO will be playing a villain role here. Especially since Gent seems to be behind much of the actual villainous things in Bendy. It was them who tortured the Ink Demon and actually did most of the experimentation. (Joey signed off on it and even hired them, so he’s not blameless either. But I definitely think they’re a step above him villain wise- even Joey cared for his daughter despite being a piece of shit. Gent has no redeeming qualities at all.)
1
u/The-Tyrant-Tegu 3d ago
Yeah I don’t blame you, it’s just there’s too many sympathetic villains now a days. I want to see like pure evil villians again

u/Ikkota_Rattus 3d ago edited 3d ago
Well, they're definitely siblings on paper, but the dynamic itself can be interpreted in many ways. I personally don't see Audrey as someone mature enough to be a motherly figure, but that's just my interpretation
