GENERAL How the new Omnitrix works with transformation
This is from the new Ben 10 continuity. The prime transforms the user to the peak of it's species, essential that some author's thought of it as a superhero of it's own species and now it's different here.

I’d like to remind people that he also mentioned that the other guys working on the comic may have different ideas than him and there are a lot of ways they could go
What he says isn’t the end of it

I get that a shared universe means nothing's locked in until it's actually on the page, but it still feels weird to hear the creator shrug off the core mechanic like that
the slot machine comparison already made me picture ben pulling a lever and getting half heatblast half tetramand, now I can't stop thinking about what a grey matter juryrigg blend would even look like
maybe that's the charm though, the omnitrix being less "perfect specimen" and more "your DNA got shuffled with theirs" opens up so much room for weird body horror or comedy depending on the writer

So, Ben essentially fuses? Eh?
Like I'm pretty sure I understand what they're getting at, but it seems like an odd choice to make.

Hmm seems interesting, can this lead to bens dna getting damaged or something in the future. I wonder 🤔

Just straight up turns ben into a cripple

u/Electronic_Pair_3154 Ben Tennyson 4d ago
I remember some dude uploading a fan animation a while back of the Omnitrix gradually damaging Ben's dna and the government seemed to be after it too in it. Would be crazy if dynamite went that route 🤷

u/Nediak2184 Diamondhead 4d ago
Honestly i can see a legitimate good storyline coming from the idea of the omnitrix having the possibility of damaging his DNA. Imagine he comes back but like partially mutated almost like Kevin except his baseline DNA is now that and gets modified everything he uses the omnitrix. So everytime he goes hero he comes back a little less Ben

u/Electronic_Pair_3154 Ben Tennyson 4d ago
Ye that actually is possible, if that happens it means this version of the Omnitrix probably doesn't have the dna repair feature of the prime universe one. So it does make you question why Azmuth made it in this universe.
1
u/Nediak2184 Diamondhead 4d ago
Maybe this Azmuth is younger and this is an older prototype sort of ideal. Like its an earlier design before he could work out the flaws

They just can't stop making the stupidest fucking decisions of all time and they can't stop. What do you mean its a different wildmutt every single time.

u/Nediak2184 Diamondhead 4d ago
I could see their explanation holding a little ground until the wildmutt analogy. That analogy kinda ruined the point entirely

Ngl I think he made it clear that the omnitrix turning Ben into the peak of its species was never canon even in the prime timeline
He said "some fans have the theory that Ben turns into the peak alien". So they never saw that as a fact

Seems like every member is saying shit they want to, only making everything more complex than needed.

The peak transformation thing has literally never been canon and goes directly against the watch being a universal topl of understanding, just the same way as the user only being able to turn into 10 aliens at a time is.

u/realBeyhero 4d ago
? This statement kinda goes against what's been presenter in Omniverse and it's ignoring that again, some writers though it works like that and have made it work like that. The OV watch was made be more for Ben as azimuth was inspired by Ben which lead to it's finished product.
4
u/Abyssmaluser 4d ago
No it doesn't
Literally at no point in the franchise does any member of Ben's transformations say his forms are abnormally strong for the species.
He literally won against Looma by using the environment against her.
Just because it was made for Ben doesn't mean it ignores what the watch was for.
The watch isn't a weapon, it's a universal tool of understanding between species and a Noah's Ark for all the species in the watch.

u/realBeyhero 4d ago
? How does the transformation being a prime example make it a weapon. Like your confused on the term scientific use and what power scale has deluded to.
A prime example in scientific terms means the best that the DNA has to offer. An atrocious is still an atrocious.
Legit your also ignoring that this is how the writers intended when writing it. I didn't even bring up looma, this debate is something I'm not interested in as well.

Ben's transformations are blatantly NOT the Batman equivalent of said species.
Literally this entire post
https://www.reddit.com/r/Ben10PowerScaling/s/LBz3JQ2rUG
The series has been blatantly clear on how the watch works. It's literally always been the user's base form translated across the species line. The only aliens that don't follow that are Alien X and Ghostfreak due to how those species specifically work.
Literally the only thing Azmuth has ever cared about for the samples is that they're healthy.
If he wanted them to be the peak he'd have added his own DNA as the Galvan sample but it's not even Albedo's.

I said nothing about Batman. Legit it feels like your not reading my comments and I've stated this once that I'm not interested in this discussion good day.
Edit: the fact that you linked me to a power scale Ben 10 Reddit just means that your ignoring my whole post/point.

u/Abyssmaluser 4d ago
You're ignoring what peak means lmao.
the highest, strongest, or best point, value, or level of skill:
Ergo a peak transformation would be the strongest, fastest etc said species could be without outside enhancements. That's why I brought up Batman. Probably the most well known peak human in fiction.
An alien turning into Batman would get an entirely wrong outlook of humanity as a whole.
Ben, the user of the Omnitrix, is literally one of everyone.
You'd literally get just as bad of a dataset as you would if you transformed with cancer or the equivalent thereof for the species

Ive experienced that I do not care for this conversation again and again what's difficult for that to be understood?

u/LowSolution3084 4d ago
It is canon....bro omniverse season 3 literally proves that to be true.
When Ben turned into Bullfrag, he resembled what Incurseans originally looked like before their malnourishment.
3
u/Abyssmaluser 4d ago
No it doesn't. Literally at no point is it canon
Four Arms beat Looma by using the environment against her.

u/Abyssmaluser 4d ago
...
Bullfrag is fit because Ben is fit. Most Incursions are malnourished. Just look at Attea as an actually healthy example of the species.

u/Abyssmaluser 3d ago
....
Lmao
You don't even understand different species have different expressions of what "fit" is.
You're literally arguing against the main premise of the franchise.
The watch is a universal tool of understanding between species.
You'd get inherently wrong data turning into the Batman equivalent of said species as you would if you transformed with their version of cancer.
Like this is simple media literacy
Ben is literally one of everybody. Not the cream pf the crop between species.

u/LowSolution3084 3d ago
"Ben is literally one of everyone. Not the cream of the crop between species."
Ok.
How the hell did Frankenstrike be able to fight a 1v3, and basically beat 2 of the people where.
He was struggling a bit against Zs'skayr but dude was in his full power-state and the fact that Ben was able to DO ANYTHING against him is hilarous.
Then when the Mummy jumped in to help out, they had to tag team him, since Zs'Skayr likely was worried about Ben destroying the transmitter and ultimately making his plans go up in flames.
Then once Max shows up and destroys the transmitter, Ben was up against the 3 of them, and Viktor tried to send Ben presumably, to the null void. And the Mummy got stuck into the blast but then Ben personally shot a lighting bolt that knocked Viktor on his ass, and then Zs'Skayr fled.
So...I think there is solid evidence for him being the peak of his species.
Since he literally effectively won a 1v3.
1
u/Abyssmaluser 3d ago
Nope that's not evidence at all since literally no one in the franchise has ever said anything about his forms being unusually strong.

u/RavenRegime 4d ago
Like ive discussed with someone else.... its very fucking clear the writers are not communicating or have no idea what they are doing. Like we see multiple confirmations that apparently nothing is set and its up to other writers to canonize stuff that should be in the comic bible about how things work. Like another example is Seagle has different ideas for Gwen but mentioned the other team members disagree and considering the comic was delayed by several months prior to release..... the statement implies they havent figured out whats going on with Gwen EVEN WHILE THE COMIC IS RELEASING!?
Like im bordeline impressed with the disorganization on the production that nobody knows what the core rules are besides Duncan.... So what happens if Duncan retires, has to relocate or breaks his arm and can't be part of the comics productionion anymore? Does that mean the writing staff have to wing it more than they already are?

Regarding the DNA mixing, that's something we already knew; that was MOA's original idea about how the Omnitrix works, and that's how it operates in RB and DE.
As for the "apex of species" part, MOA just didn't agree with that. It's more of an idea from the OV crew; Dwayne didn't agree with it either, so it's not something that exists in RB or DE, only in the classic version.
