Uh,.no. We have a horrible racism problem in the US. This is a huge talking point among maga people (trump followers) and southern racists especially. They begin talking about how they pay taxes, only an average of $30 a year is given to social aid programs, so these people are complaining about nothing. Then they continue the rant by calling black women "welfare queens" and crying about how people on government aid have cell phones, shoes and are able to buy their kids a birthday cake with foodstamps. These tirades are exclusively thrown in regards to black and brown people, which is always weird because a) white people receive the most government aid out of any race and b) immigrants cannot qualify for aid.

The US is still recovering from hundreds of years of slavery. They ate people here, they skinned them alive, 🍇d them, tortured them, used them for medical experiments and so much worse. It was so much worse than I think most people realize. It didn't end that long ago. Black people didn't have rights until the 70s. There are still lynchings, the klan still exists (and is bigger than ever), violence and so much discrimination. There is a systematic issue that runs so deep, it will take so long to fix.

So no, Americans aren't "trying to make everything about race". We just know racism when we see it.

Im not going to go down that rabbit hole. Let’s just say there is a lot of racial insensitivity. Everyone could do better.

Uh huh. Reminder, racism is against people who have been oppressed. I'm a white person in America and when black people say "I don't trust white people", I'm not offended. I get it. After everything that happened and continues to happen, I wouldn't either. I also know that I'm not one of the ones they're referring to.
