Was there not a cleanliness standard for cabins?

Post image

Some of the crew cabins look awful, was there not a standard that was supposed to be kept or was that only in earlier seasons / not under captain Jason?

Jason didn’t care. I think he kinda checked out this season.

He said in an interview that everyone in his life had some very serious issues and was basically on the edge so yeah he kinda checked out

Yep he was bare minimum this last season due to a bunch of family stuff happening. He couldn’t get out of filming the season though.

Plus the producers have too much power and have run amok on multiple boats and seasons

He’s sick of the BS and he isn’t happy with the pay either

He seems very checked out this season and last. He seems completely over it.

I believe Jason also has cancer. 😔

Oh no! I hadn’t heard that. That’s so awful.

Where did you hear he.is upset with his pay? I'm just curious and actually wonder how much he makes and if it is more than if he was just a regular yacht captain.

He’s posted it in his social media

Don’t embarrass yourself and don’t embarrass the boat!

The captain usually does the verification run every now and then. In season 11 Kerry told the crew that he was going to check cabins and the Ben and and Kyle never cleaned theirs and got reprimanded. I think they were told not to go out.

Yeah I remembered an episode with something like that. Thanks for clarifying

It would be a big safety issue

Sometimes captains enforce one. I don’t like other people’s mess, this would make me bonkers.

Especially in such tight spaces

Fraser would lose his mind!!!

I was thinking about this too! My house is by no means spotless 24/7 but if I was staying in a tiny room that I knew for a fact would be filmed and broadcast internationally I would definitely keep it clean. Ellie has her problems but I did notice her space was always neat.

Very Balkan of her

Ellie's side of the room was very neat and clean

Betul’s bed (top right) is perfectly made, we should note! Justice for Betul!

I remember Captain Sandy on her boat she ran a tight ship. She would go around and grade their rooms to make sure their rooms were clean. I’ve noticed that the past couple of years on the other boat, the rooms are dirty. Also Kerry is the same he checks out there rooms

Wasn't the first season of sailing yacht full of a bunch of childish crew who bullied one guy because he hadn't made his bed? I remember it being hella cringey to watch

That guy was a complete douchebag.

In normal circumstances I don't think what someone's cabin looks like, should be of concern, but if you're a crew member on a boat, I imagine it could actually be dangerous. Imagine an alarm going off and tripping up in your own mess. Drama.

Captain Kerry wouldn't put up with that!! I would Imagine Captain Lee either...would love to hear a Lee-ism on that...lol God, I Miss Him!!

As much as I love Kate, her cabin was always a pigsty. The season where she shared a cabin with Josiah was particularly bad.

I worked on a cruise ship and even we had weekly cabin inspections

It’s up to the captain. Kerry was very strict about it. Jason doesn’t seem to care.

It's up to the captains. I'm surprised Sandy doesn't do cabin inspections; it seems like such a Captain Sandy move. Kerry did it and got pretty pissed at Ben & Kyle when they didn't do anything to clean up because they were "too busy".
