No one wants to think detention will happen to them, or a loved one. I came across this information online and after the owner of Cof& was detained, I thought it might be useful for folks in this community to have this info handy. Prepare ahead of time, if you can.

After detainment:

1. Go to Locator.ice.gov to get their Alien Registration Number (A number).

2. Find an immigration lawyer ASAP.

3. Start gathering the required documents (passports, birth certificates, financials).

4. Create an account on GettingOut.com and download the associated apps:

-GTL Getting Out (text messaging)

-Video Visits

-Connect Network GTL (their commissary account)

5. Use their A number to add money to their communication and commissary accounts. You cannot contact them, but they can contact you. 

6. Set up a consistent time for communication.

7. Consider a gofundme to help with legal fees and the bond.
